Skiing/Boarding 13-14

VT is awesome and one of my favourite places to go ski. So many runs and if you buy the 3 valleys pass you can go forever! Nightlife is also very good, i just love the resort as a whole!

I really want to go Skiing in February but after the massive surgery i had on my knee back in May I can forget it. :( Had my LCL, PCL reconstructed. MY MCL was torn and my ACL is still severed. Also i snapped (messily) the common peroneal nerve and had to have a massive nerve graft :(

Sorted out my two trips:

Tignes with the Mrs in Jan
Les Duex Alpes with the crew in Feb

Hopefully my knee would have healed by then, Smashed it into some ice after trying switch on box rail and came smashing into the ground - was not amused.

I just got the prices through from Chatel for the PdS region. The ones I wanted were not on their site (the residents family season) which are here:

It makes it a WHOLE heap cheaper, but it still comes at the best time, Christmas, to drop 2k on ski passes *shuts eyes and assumes position*

If I go this year it will be to Courchevel to visit my friend who runs a ski shop and custom builds. However I want to go to Whistler during summer 2014 so that will take precedence.

Tom Pinches?

If so I have a set of his fork tree skis  I've known him for years he is a good mate of mine

at £800 they arent cheap but I know I'm the only person in the world with this set ;)

Interesting looking skis Will, I've not heard of them before. What are the dimensions? Remind me of Moment skis with the square tips. What type of ski are they; stiff for charging or floppy for fun (ooer)?

Quite all mountain really, edging to favouring off piste fluffy stuff

square tips great in the powder and surprisingly good on the piste. Can class this as a do anything ski (no GS!)

152-112-134, 185 length

I'm just shoving some 15 DINs on these, I've got some hell bents with 18 FKSs on so if the super deep stuff come I can pull them out

I fractured my skull last week, and have a trip planned early January ... realistically what are the chances of me being ok to do so? It will be just over 5 weeks since I would have done it ... :(

They take months to heal. You will literally be playing with your life if you go. It wont take much of a fall for you to be in a world of hurt and potentially seriously injury yourself for life should there be any head contact even with a helmet!

Is it really worth it?

Its about 2 months for a full recovery ..... TBH you should cancel as you are at risk of brain injury/death during this time if you hurt it again.

Off to Val D'isere on friday. We are driving down with accommodation booked from Saturday. Looking forward to the outdoor heated swimming pool!!

Been a bit exoensive this time around as we we bought our own boards, bindings and boots.

Thinking of wearing a helmet this time, not worn one before. Any recommendations for a pretty cheap helmet?

I would go for one that fits comfortably really, you can't guarantee that a no name brand will protect your head properly .... brands that I know are good: Bern, Head, Pro Tec & Giro.

surely a helmet would be something you would spend a decent amount of money on?

I picked up an Anon Raider a few months back for around £50. given me loads more confidence and it has all the features you could need on a helmet.

Thanks guys will see what I can find. Not worn a helmet before but just presumed they would all be tested? For example Trespass have some at £25 so presumed a well known brand like that would be ok?
