Sky Broadband

If you want lower pings phone tech support and ask to get interleaving switch off, this will lower your pings to around 8-10ms :D

but can make things a tad more unstable but most folks dont have issues.

Anyone any idea if they will arrange the installation of a new phone line? I already get free "up to" 8mb ADSL from work so I wanna keep that. May as well get free sky broadband while I am at it for "up to" 16mb :)

If you do actually do this can you post and let us know what your pings are then like??

fanks!!

Unfortunately it's not quite as simple as calling and asking to be swapped from Interleave to Fastpath.

Granted some operators/technicians (at Sky/Uko) will swap you without fuss but the vast majority have strict instructions to keep customers on Interleave and only swap them to Fastpath if they can demonstrate a valid reason.

Gaming is a valid reason, its well known that gamers will want interleave off.

Gamers thinking it's a valid reason and the ISP thinking it's a valid reason are two different things.

Just ask most UKO customers.

As someone who works at a ISP - we except this as a valid reason.

Whats your pings like mate?? :)

Yes, everything is the same on the sky branded router as opposed to the retail Netgear equivalent in terms on functionality. :)

Pings interleaving is 25-40 fast path 8-15 but is a lot more unstable at higher speeds so they make a few mb of the line to stable it, most of the operators will do it if you moam enough
