Sky Fibre Optic

cheers mate will try tomorrow

I just rang them tonight, told them straight up i'm not paying £50 to be connected when i can go to virgin and get it free.

He's like oh let me see what i can do, literally 5 seconds later, oh yh we can waive the £50 charge not a problem.

Said they are sending a new router and it'll be sorted within 2 weeks.

Should get around 35mbps so can't complain lol

Anyone else go rubbish. Used to be a fairly constant 18mbps last month or so rarely gets above 6 and even middle of the night its like 13.

Any Sky Fibre users lacking in broadband connection tonight?

DSL light is on. Looks like the line is up but broadband not connected over is.

Its crap :( every month since I got it, its got slower and slower. It must be over subscribed now. Lucky to get 7mb and now its struggling to play YouTube. It was fine when I first got it.

Thought Id post a update to my situation.

Ordered fibre In September over the phone and was told I was getting the black SR102.

Open reach turned up on the 24th October but I hadn't received my router so he installed the white open reach modem and I plugged my old ADSL router into it just to get online.

The 25th October a white sky router turned up the SR101.

I rang sky they said someone's made a mistake but they will send out the black SR102 today and I can do what I want with the rest of the equipment.

The 31st October another white SR101 turns up.

I ring sky again they said the black SR102 is in trials and they will not send me one.

I complain and they have put a note on my account to give me a free one when they become available.

The 31st October I put a post on there forum asking if they can sort it.

I get thrown around for a few weeks via PM and have to chase people up a few times but on the 19th November I get told one is on its way.

No router turns up and my PM's are ignored so I post on there forum again and get told I wont get one until January.

The 20th December I get told ones on its way and sure enough it turns up the next day.

Hi all,

My mum ordered this a few weeks back and was given today as the activation date. New SR102 router comes through with a sticker saying activation date is 20th Jan. This morning everything was fine and current broadband was still on. Come 2:30pm today phone and BB goes off so I pop round after work today to plug the new box in and nothing.

Still no phone line (dead line) and router will not try to connect. Phones sky and they didnt seem interested and all they would do is log a fault with BT...

It seems like they went to connect the fibre, unplugged the cables and forgot to plug them back in! Anyone experience this before?

I had my installed a couple of months back and this was fine, no problems at all.

Kellys engineer probably Xline'd it or Dis'd it off in the cab.

Any idea how quick they are likely to resolve this? I know they say it could be up to midnight on your day of activation but I presume they have "done their job" today all be it wrong?

Could be tomorrow or it could be next week depending on the area (BVG) and/or workstack.

No idea of telling unfortunately mate.

Ordered my SkyFibre Friday. Can I use my existing old ADSL filters I've used with my BEThere broadband for the last 6yrs, with the sky fibre box SR102. The reason I'm asking is that my RJ45 connector is stuck in the upstairs landing wall faceplate socket if you know what I mean, I just can't pull it out so I'll have to use the old filters as I can't disconnect it from the wall. I know it sounds really silly but thats whats happened.

how much are you people paying for the lower tier Fibre? (I think 40/10)

1st 12m contract will be up in April and 34.50/m is rather steep (it's about 25/m effectively with cashback and half price deal that was taken) but still.

so wondering what others are paying especially after renewing.

No Virgin available here and BT is even more expensive by the looks of it. Sky service was pretty good, so would stick with them if possible.

Been on SKY for a couple years now with regular Broadband unlimited, today my fibre router came in, and tbh I just hooked it up thinking maybe it has already activated (fibre)....the router works fine, just getting 7mb kind of what I was getting before, should the fibre sky hub work with no fibre activated yet...as it is right now?...Or have I been 'activated' and I am just getting poor speeds?

Thanks in advance.

I doubt your Fibre has been activated yet then. Do you know when your activation date is?

Yeah, box said 31st, but just went ahead like a bit of a plonker and prayed it was activated lol...but yeah, no problems using the new SKY Fibre hub right until activation?...Also, I thought it was activated as my internet went down this morning you see.
