Sky Fibre Optic

Hi all,

Considering upgrading my Sky Fibre to Pro. Anyone able to tell me what speeds i am likely to be able to achieve based on the information below from my Sky hub?

Broadband Link Downstream Upstream
Connection Speed 39998 kbps 9995 kbps
Line Attenuation 12.7 dB 0.0 dB
Noise Margin 24.0 dB 23.23 dB

Thanks,

Russ

I tried that for the pro product but was told there is absolutely no way they can offer any sort of discount on Pro and they don't even get a staff discount.

Not sure if I believe them or not.

Well at half 12 I went home and had no phoneline, or broadband connection up so someone somewhere must be doing something with the wires, hoping they've got it right and connect me for 4 when I finish work.

Well, I took the plunge this lunch time and ordered sky fibre pro (had to do it over the phone as online it wasn't available).

I got 12months free line rental, free activation and £75 credit on the bill (they say a free SkyHub2 and P&P as well but I'm not sure that was a bonus) - all because I was going to move to plusnet and rang up for my MAC - damn salesmen! :p

Interesting though is that I was told that with the SkyHub2 there is no need for an OR engineer to visit, I just plug it in myself and away we go! Got to wait a fortnight now :/

Just rang up myself about this and they offered me nothing ! £30 a month and £50 connection charge even though i'm with sky !

Really don't see the point being an old customer as i you never seem to get anything from them :(

Will be ringing tomorrow to cancel iv spoken to them a few times and keep getting told I cant get a discount and still have to pay the 50quid

Disappointed

No clue iv been told by a few people online & over the phone its not negotiable
Been out of contract since September was hoping they would try and keep me

just tell them straight up your leaving for virgin cos u ain't gotta pay the £50 tht what i did and the guy just dropped it quicker then whores knickers.

I rang back up tonight telling them i'm leaving everything for virgin and a woman is calling tomorrow to give me a discount on my line rental and i'm gonna try and blag fibre pro if i can !

If you speak to retentions they can waive the £50 easily. I know I don't have the option but they can. I would also try and swing a discount. mention the BT Infinity sale on at the moment with ginger wally and the strangely attractive girlfriend you've seen on the TV.

If you still don't have any joy trust me and I'll get someone who can waive the fee to give you a call.

Whats the number for it?, its a ripoff compared to the plusnet deal. think I will move if they don't return the £50 :S

Misscheif - I have a faceplate already, did that ages ago squeeze every last bit out of my rather pants adsl line (5mb)

As for activation fee, I didn't push it, I just said I was going to plusnet as pro wasn't available and then both were offered to me!

I did try and get them to swap the credit for a 2TB box but apparently TV/BB are can't do things on the others side.

After talking to a nice chap called Jordan tonight im being upgraded to fibre for £2.50pm more than my adsl 10mb line was costing me
Not having to pay the install fee and getting the new hub not a bad result

Woow that sounds very good, care to share any tips?? :P

I could place an order, as above, even though my exchange still shows as "Coming Soon".

Is this normal or should I expect problems?

The ADSL availability checker, Sky checker and BT's own infinity checker all allow me to order and say available etc. And my hub has been posted to me.

Sky also seem to have been very quick installing the link between their equipment and the OR stuff at the exchange which makes me a bit suspicious.

I'm ever the cynic :)
