Sky Fibre Optic

Thanks.

I was surprised the new router was working before the activation date, roll on Friday!

It's pre-configured with your details and capable of both ADSL and VDSL syncs hence it works still. You'll notice at some point during the day when the OR engineer does the work at the cab (if needed) or remotely at the exchange line will re-sync after a few minutes to fibre speeds.

Thanks for the that :)

sky are going to let me out of my contract now as my 38mb down 8mb up is now 29mb down 6mb up, due to cross talk. thats 9mb loss on the down and 2 on the up and interleaving is sky high 60ms plus. I think going back to adsl and having 7down and a ping of 20ms is better and far cheaper.

Managed to get an openreach modem for £8 from the bay :p

Is there a guide anywhere for setting up a HG612 and RT-AC66U with Merlin? Already have my username/password - but just need to figure out how to configure it together.

It goes in the Manual clientid box within WAN settings.

well I wont be buying a billion 8800nl!!! grrr speeding fine :( will soldier on with the SR102. Its ok but does it hell like to hold on to sync like the older dlink did and the wifi is naff but needs must. On the very plus side ;) my connection is now stable at 34down & 7.8up and ping is 21, hope it continues.

Quick question , I'm on sky fibre and am considering changing to thie Billion 8800nl. What's the WiFi signal like on this, I'm coming from the supplied Sky Sr102, so any comparison with that is appreciated. Cheers

It should be far far better than what sky offer, go check out some reviews like I did. you could go the asus route but its far more expensive.

If you check in the MM in a few days I may have one for sale as I may be going the AXL or asus route. I can also confirm it works spot on with sky fibre.

Thanks for reply, haven't found any reviews that have specifically mentioned anything about WiFi signal, as I said I just want a ex sky router user to confirm if the WiFi is at least as good as the supplied Sr102. I've heard various people on different websites say that the WiFi is poor.

The wifi isn't poor it's just not as good as I had hoped
