Sky Fibre Optic

oooooo got a bit scared earlier my DS noise margin dropped to 1.9db!!!! from 8pm till about 11pm it was terrible and come 12:30 its nearly 7db so I think some neighbour has dodgy electric. on the plus side my ping is still low :)

I took a punt on an openreach modem (at £5), and it turns out to be an ECI not Huawei. My cab is Huawei, should I try and pickup a Huawei one or would the ECI be fine? I'm wanting to use it in conjunction with a RT-AC66u...

My RT-AC66U turned up today, before I start unplugging stuff and messing around - does anyone know what (if any) stats are available with an ECI modem and how I get them? Just sync speed will do for now!

I seemed to have dropped about 10meg sync speed from swapping the SR102 to an ECI Openreach modem. As far as I can tell though there's no way to obtain sync speed from these?

Going to try and pickup a Huawei unit instead

I'm finally back on Fastpath.

Ordered Sky Fibre Unlimited last Friday, got (what I assume is) the SR102 delivered this morning. Will set it up tonight so when the activation (dated 4th March) comes around it should just work.

I have been reading a lot about this router on here and other places, so I hope that it works OK. My PC is in the next room along (in a flat) so only separated by a stud wall about 10ft away - hopefully the wireless performance is good.

Currently get about 11/1 with my ADSL Unlimited, so as long as I get near the estimated speeds of 36/9 then i'll be a happy bunny. I don't really use many features at the moment so as long as it's fast and my Chromecast works then i'll be a happy chappy :)

My Chromecast works mostly fine (occasionally wonky with plex), router is approx 30ft from Chromecast with 2 studwalls in between, get about 2/3rds wifi strength.

Well the new router is all up and running. Before I removed the old one I did a speed test wirelessly on my PC and wired on an old laptop, and the speed was pretty much identical; maybe about 0.05Mps faster wired up and down.

It's about the same ratio on the new router which is good news. As long as the raw speed is there it'll be all good

A dlm reset will get it back down but its a waiting game, mine isnt reset but its lower pings are 20ms. They say 14 to 28 days, thing is you can say your speed is bad and you had better and want it sorted. with your line attenuation you should get 40/10 no hassle.

For about 2 weeks now I've not been able to access Rotten Tomatoes on my Sky Fibre broadband connection. Firefox, Chrome and IE just can't load the page. I can ping rottentomatoes.com successfully but with an average ping of 156ms which seems quite slow to me?

I'm using an Asus RT-N66U with the latest firmware (378.50). Is anyone else getting this issue? Any ideas what I can do to to fix this?

Accessing it fine here over Sky Fibre. Do you have your Sky Shield active in any way? www.sky.com/shield

Hi MissChief. Thought it would be a problem for my connection only so for you to be able to access it proves it for me. Thanks. :)

I don't think I have Sky Shield active. I'm sure I turned it off when Sky first introduced it. I'll check it out now though, just in case.

Edit: One category was blocked, drugs & violence I think it was. I spotted an option to turn the shield off, previously I hadn't seen that and had to unblock all the activities. I'll leave it until I get home from work and see if things have changed by then.

OK, got back from work and Rotten Tomatoes is still unavailable. I logged into my server and that can't access the site either so it's the connection rather than my PC.

When I upgraded to Merlin 378.50 last night the Asus RT-N66U would have reset itself. Should I try it again? I can ping and tracert Rotten Tomatoes on both Windows' CMD prompt and in the firmware for my router.

OK. I've gone through the settings on my router and can't see anything that would explain why of all the sites I used only Rotten Tomatoes is blocked. I have flashed to an earlier version of the Asuswrt-Merlin firmware and that didn't work so gone back to 378.50. Is there anything else I can do to try and troubleshoot this annoying issue?
