Sky Fibre Optic

To what I have read is that some people have been fine, only thing you can do is test it. The answer is actually here in this section of the forum but its on the skyuser, thinkbroadband and kitz forum.

Hi, use a old adsl router as a switch you just disable DHCP and can't remember if you can use it as abooster for wifi.

Plenty info online l'm using the D-Link.

I have tried to use wireshark and it won't let me copy and paste what I think is my username and password, it just comes up" hex view and bit view" anyone know where I'm going wrong?

No issues with my Sky Hub at all here. Sure it may be missing some more advanced features but it works. From a support point of view having standard routers is the best bet.

Same here, its only the wireless thats supposed to be poor from what ive read, but that doesn't bother me, as im wired.

Im on the up to 38Mb unlimited, get the full down, and around 7Mb up, went Fibre last September, and had no problems at all with it (so far). :p

You are coping the wrong DHCP packet, choose an alternative DHCP packet and try again until you get the right one.

Right use these instructions there a lot clear for getting your Sky Hub Username and Password download the pdf file, use adobe reader.

http://www.skyuser.co.uk/forum/atta...sername-password-your-fttc-enabled-router.pdf

The last 2 steps are important -
Right click on Option 61 and select Copy > Bytes > Printable text only

Paste the Output into notepad or similar, Remove the prepending =# and you should have your sky username and password.

Use Notepad++ Installer 1st one below > http://notepad-plus-plus.org/download/v6.7.4.html

Please input the client ID as username and password separate with "|" e.g. username|password.

Client ID = asd123fghj@skydsl|qwer1234tyu//i9o

SKY Username = asd123fghj@skydsl|qwer1234tyu//i9o

Username - asd123fghj@skydsl

password - qwer1234tyu//i9o

Hope this helps.

My internet has dropped again but the amusing thing is Open Reach were in the cabinet when Iwas comming back from dropping my son off. I decided to check my stats and it does appear to be a coincidence there.

Is Anyone using the Billion BiPAC 8800NL in replace of the SR102? How easy is it to set up I have extracted my username and password, is it just a case of inputting the username and password and off you go? Thanks for any replys.

I will have been with sky a year in April, does anyone know if I can cancel and open a new contract in my partners name, so we can get the new customer discount? I done this years ago with Virgin but think they may have caught on now.

If not, I'll be looking at moving over to plusnet!

You probably can, but expect some downtime I would guess as they'll likely have to cancel the line, wait for it to cease and then order in your partners name. You might be just as well 'threatening' to leave and see what retentions offer.

Are all SR102's the same? I've been sent a new one for fibre being activated on Monday - but I already have one for my ADSL so I assume they're all the same?
