Sky Fibre Optic

Just spoke to a guy at sky as I'm having the same fibre issue everyone else seems to be having with it not updating saying I can't get it on sky's site. He says they haven't got all of BTO's fibre network listed on there site yet and to try again in 48 hours and it should work then so as sky have been good to me in the past I'll wait and see if that works before I jump ship to BT.

ordered it yesterday and got install date of 27th April, dunno what speed yet but reckon on at least 30mb should be a nice change from 4mb :)

I rang Sky to order fibre and was told to ring back on Monday as my account hasn't been updated yet, strange!

BT's offer is starting to look better now, but I'm mid-contract with Sky so have to stay with them really. I just hope that they really do 'Believe in Better' and offer 40/10 at least for now!

Le sigh, something very odd is happening in the database checked friday using address and my account and I could add it to the basket.

Today after checking with my mum its ok to upgrade it, apparently i can no longer get fibre! Very strange and might push me to BT if they get it fixed soon!

Just ordered this online, gets installed 30th April. Upgrading from there ADSL unlimited package where I get 12mb, hoping I get the full 40mb download.
According to BT Infinity checker my line can support 64mb down, 20mb up so fingers crossed ;):D

thats good i would think you,ll get more than 64mb up as that is a liberal speed they give you :)

If you're on a sky 12 month contract on a current BB service can you upgrade to sky fibre or do you have to wait until the end of your current BB contract? ... won't be able to get fibre here until the end of june but would be good to know :)

Well I waited and still says not available so I've taken the plunge and gone with BT.

anyway to get a static ip from sky?

I doubt itll help but my IP has never changed since I joined Sky...

Not liking them forcing their phone package. Might go BT now, since its faster overall, and I don't pay the line rental anyway. Anyone got any complaints? Truly Unlimited?

well, im not able to get it in my area yet but have been told it should be in my area soon(ish) as I can get bt infinity.

in the meantime I was offered free line rental and unlimited BB for 9months with no contract. that will satisfy me for now but hopefully fibre will be available before that offer expires.

Dissapointing

Nope you don't have to wait for your current one to run out. Any new order would superceed the current, so you would get a new 12 month contract.

Install date for me is the 27th of April.

Any idea if this works the same as the unlimited service, i.e. username/password authentication?

I use PfSense so.

Excellent, cheers :)

I've noticed a lot of BT types milling around various street boxes recently, and slowly but surely they've moved from one to the other and occasionally digging up the ground in a random location.....only just twigged as to what they were doing :D Looks like they've started at the boxes furthest away and are slowly moving in from the outter ones towards the exchange. Activation date was already moved back from the 1st of June to the 30th of June here so fingers crossed they plod on and it doesn't get moved back any further.

Any news on them upgrading speeds? guess not

wow ! seems a bit early ha! only just got the 40mb service out , guess they will give it a few months and see how it goes customer wise ,then upgrade to 76mb service to everyone then :)
