Sky Fibre Optic

When you got your adsl connection, why did you need an engineer to come to your house?
The fibre product is usually installed, by an engineer, within 4 weeks from order date.
I know that you are excited about fibre and are taking what SKY told you as guaranteed availability for Q1 next year - do not count on this.

One thing that I am finding strange is that you live in London and there is no SKY product. I was under the impression that the whole of London was covered by SKY.

Its a recently converted office block, so everyone living here has only just moved in. I assume they needed the engineer to come and figure out which phone line now goes to my flat.

And the green box at the end of my road says that Fibre is available in the area, though the openreach engineer also said that they put those up in advance because while technically the equipment is there, it isn't ready, or something like that.

Also, I'm not too close to the centre of London, SE27 West Norwood.

Just ordered this as my Be* connection is getting a bit slow at 5MB shared between 3, £45 cashback through quidco :D how does this work if I try to adjust the order though? I was thinking of swapping the line rental from monthly to yearly payments as it saves £5 a month, will I lose the cashback making these kind of adjustments?

It does?
Am I the only one who doesnt know about this?

Probably :p

IIRC its £119.40 for a year, a big saving. obviously its barely advertised so hardly anybody knows about it

edit: stolen from the website

'Upfront line rental offer: Available to new and existing customers taking Sky Broadband, Talk and line rental. Line rental is charged as an upfront cost of £119.40 for the entire 12 months. Equivalent to £9.95 per month - a saving of £54.60 over 12 months. Standard monthly price £14.50. Can you send me a link to this page.
Thanks

Ordered Sky Fibre last night - install date 11th Jan. Fingers crossed!

Is relocating the master socket a fairly quick and painless process? I don't really want the place ripped apart! :P

My issues continue. Down to 12.8 download 7.9 up and has disconnected 15 times in last 3 days! My issue has been escalated with sky. Not sure what can be done as the engineer from wednesday seemed very thorough and couldnt find anything. Am hoping they will rewire completely from cab but would take a miracle.

Depends where you want it or what your current setup is like. I had a data extension kit installed so it took an hour or so. Others just had their faceplates changed!

Had a bit of a slow down at the end of last week on my fibre ine but Sky had texted to say they was carrying out some work

Other than that I get 40/10 pings of 8 - 9 so very pleased, might go for Pro package in the new year

last night i was getting 22ms pings tonight again its terrible.
