Sky Fibre Optic

Does anybody suffer NAT setting issues on Sky Fibre?

I'm moving across on the 19th, and I spend far too much time on Xbox Live :)

I'm curious is people have had NAT (closed/moderate) issues and if there are any successful long term work arounds.

None here, mines open without needing anything doing

I have just ordered the Sky fibre 40/10 package. Got an install date of Dec 21st. I am hoping speeds should be good as the cabinet is outside next doors house :)

Just ordered sky unlimited fibre yesterday, but have some questions now

I spoke to a live chat operator and was told:

1 - I would get a new phone line included in the install costs, seemed cheap at the time, turns out its not a new line just a new number on the same line.

2 - Was told fibre pro isnt available in my area but i can upgrade when it is in my area, is this correct or should it be available wherever fibre is?

3 - Because of the phone line issue, said will be active on the 17th, but fibre wont be installed until the 18th i will have some downtime? i though these things were generally organised to avoid downtime? also this is why i asked for a new line just incase because the old line is a rolling month contract so it would only cost 1 month to keep the old line and let it overlap to make sure there was no downtime.

Should i speak to them again about these issues?

Samknows

Downstream Min: 29.3 Mbps
Downstream Max: 53.9 Mbps
Upstream Min: 5.8 Mbps
Upstream Max: 15.7 Mbps

And bt shows the same or this if checking based on address

Our test also indicates that your line currently supports a fibre technology with an estimated WBC FTTC Broadband where consumers have received downstream line speed of 29.3 Mbps and upstream line speed of 5.8 Mbps.

Cant check by phone line as its a weird line that doesnt show on checks

Based on this i think it might be worth going for pro as there might be a good chance of getting >40meg, my adsl was always above the estimate and the line from the pole is less than 5 years old, not ancient that should help abit

How reliable are those estimates? I've been waiting to switch to ftt for a while, first dec and now march apparently but predicted speeds are 50.7 to 80 Mbps down and 10.9 to 20 Mbps up. I'd be taking it mostly for the upload speeds as i can't see virgin improving the 100mb or future packages upload much but would be gutted if i ended up with the low end of the estimate and 11mb up.

There you go. You must be quite far away from the cab.

They told me no way round it as it's a BTO charge, then one of my colleagues got it taken off so i rang up to complain and they gave me 1/2 price line rental for 6 months. Guess it depends who you talk to.

I just said I don't expect to pay an installation charge given that I'll be a loyal customer for at least a year. The rather pleasant sales advisor (Zara) told me she would speak to her manager...she came back and said "absolutely agree, no installation fee will be charged"... done. :)

At least a year? Been with them 10 years.... little terrors

Had a quick check about upgrading to Fibre Pro, BT insist I can get Infinity 2, Sky's website claims I can only have standard Fibre, and the people at Sky were adamant I couldn't get fibre at all, despite me already having it. Wonderful :p.

Am I right in thinking that if my lines maximum attainable rate is above 80/20 (It's 115/35) then Fibre Pro shouldn't be a problem, or does it still need to be in a "Pro" area even though my line can handle it?

For some strange reason you cannot order the 80/20 version via the Sky website. You have to call them.
