Sky Fibre Optic

Looks like a number of cabinets went live today, so placed my order with Sky. Already with them for ADSL, mid-contract.

Just a two week wait now...
 
fibre installs on Monday but I have been getting bad latency on and off the last month at peak times 6-10 will fibre improve it or not as dont fancy paying more for crap pings

5 is the best I've seen, not sure if it makes that much difference really
 
The Sky Fibre network is completely seperate from the IPStream stuff. My performance was awful peak times but is super quick all the time now on fibre.
 
ordered on the 15th and still no progress, the website showed as having all the equipment delivered (nothing has arrived) and ready to be setup earlier and now the fibre package has completely vanished from my account. They congratulated me on starting the 12month phone contract with them though! I would not have even changed my phone to them if it wasn't for the fibre.

I am really not impressed with sky, ive had about 5 1hour calls to them so far to try and get stuff sorted, they always tell me they will call back shortly and then never bother.

I get the impression that if your order doesn't go through perfectly then you might as well give up on them.

I am not sure what to do now, they have wasted so much time that my current Be connection is about to run out, I guess ill have to start a new contract and pay all the connection fees since sky were unable to use my mac code before my old contract expired?
 
2 BTO engineers came round yesterday, replaced the modem, did lots of tests and some fiddling at the cab, and I'm back up to speed :)

Install due on the 18th - estimated speeds 31/5.8 - we'll see how that pans out :D

Hoping to move my master socket upstairs - is that something I need to tell Sky ahead of time, or can BT engineers do that without any prior notice?

And already mine is going wrong. Some **** up with their systems means that I'll have to get the phone line switched over first and then re-order fibre. :rolleyes:

Probably be a month before I finally end up with Fibre. :mad:

Disappointing. :(
 
When I ordered I got a date of the 8th of Jan which went well as my virgin connection goes on the 7th, Only to get an email saying it is now the 8th of Feb!
A month with no connection it is then!
 
No mate I am moving from Virgin, Still worth giving them a call to see if you can blag anything :)

Don't forget to check cashback sites for online purchases rather than phoning too.

Hi badcompany,

I cannot access any games unless my ping is over 120 it will not physically allow me onto it and I have never had any issues with Ping at this speed. Have you checked with specific servers? Do you use any other programs at the same time as playing?

Sadly when it comes to Sky I think there's quite a few people like this, and more often than not they end up being the ones you speak with.

Since ordering Fibre on Friday, I have spoken with 7 different people, of those 7 only two were any use and one should never been allowed to answer the phone ever again.
