Sky Fibre Optic

So 40Mbps is called Fibre @ £20pm & 80Mbps is Fibre Pro @ £30pm?

I cannot see pro on their site or is it just not available to me? EDIT: Ignore this found it, although its not an option on my upgrades page so I guess its not available in my area.

Great no internet until the 18th of Feb as of tomorrow, as if it needs to take a whole god damn month to get an internet connection working!

Sky spout all this garbage about taking the stress out of house moving, what a crock of **** that is

get a dongle for the month thats what I did.

I was thinking of using the internet sharing on my phone but im a bit confused by it.....I have an unlimited data plan from 3, but it also mentions a £5 addon for tethering on my account that i don't currently pay for, can i use my phone as it is or do i need to buy into the tethering?

Gents

I have a Draytek 2930vn and after speaking to support they said the below about connecting it to the BTO box

Hello Martin,

There is FAQ to apply WAN setup using username and password.

http://www.draytek.co.uk/support/kb_vigor100_setup.html

Please only follow the "Vigor 2910 PPPoE Setup" guide.

I know my username and password is in this format username@skydsl|password but on entering it in the WAN1 location I still can't get it to connect the the internet?

Anyone used or seen the correct settings before, some help would be great

Many thanks

Another moving house question....do i take the openreach box with me as well as the sky router? or do i leave that bit behind?

You have to send your username and password in DHCP Option 61 for it to work. I'm using an Apple Airport Extreme which works fine if you put the username and password into the Client ID box.

Yes my billion had the same ID box but the Draytek has a separate, which I have done but with no joy ....

Olly looks like you was right mate

Support:

Hello Martin,

Is it SKY MER connection? If so, then it won't work. This
authentication requires router to send DHCP option 61(additional
details) which is currently not supported on 2930 firmware.

Please check with ISP which authentication do they use?

Regards,

Adam

MER - Mac Encapsulated Routing.

It's a different method of making the connection back to the ISP. Sky are migrating their network across to it. Virtually every other ISP on ADSL uses PPPoA. MER is not commonly supported on most ADSL routers, which technically shouldn't be an issue as the Sky T&Cs state you use the supplied equipment. ;)
