Sky Fibre Optic

Hi, when l was on adsl l should have got about 9mb but for some reason only got about 3, 3 engineers out 2 failed to pick up the fault in the junction box on the pole the 3 got it spot on job done speed went up to 7.5 can't complain, now fibre 40000/9996 warp speed.

Hope this sorts your speed out, my copper cable from the pole is well over 30 years old.

They've just left, line was only down for around 10 minutes :)

Sneaky picture!

The guy said my line is on a temporary cap at 30mb while they did the work. He's now going to reset the line and let DLM do it's thing.

Ping has dropped by nearly half which is a good sign though :)

Once the DLM is reset usually takes about 48 hours for your speed to go up, that's how long l was told by Sky and mine went back up to 40000/9996 original speed.

Smite me down for posting this in here but a mate just got BT Infinity.

He has a bloody 18ms ping?

You Bragging,

Well yes, if l use SPEEDTEST.COM, London Exchange might give me a ping of 20ms them try again a few minute's later my ping could be 25. Again using
SPEEDTEST.COM, London Exchange give's me a ping of 20ms, l try another server say Bristol my ping could be 29, it will very.

I'v seen Sky Fibre user's with their connection stats with pings as low as 12ms, the lowest to date for me was 14ms a few weeks back when England were playing. I use SPEEDTEST.COM, London Exchange just as a quick test if l feel my connection is slow or l ping bbc.co.uk.

My exchange has problems Wallsend, no internet this morning so reset the router, check my speed has gone down, but it was ok last night and its still has problems even though l'm online, just the auto message > we are aware your exchange, etc, etc.

Any one else in Wallsend[Newcastle] effected?

Patience Young One, the DLM is quick to reduce your speed but slow to give it back, give it 4 days[96hrs] at most. If your speed does not go back up, phone Sky Fibre Team explain that your speed has not gone back up and get your line checked for faults.

I've been on sky fibre for just over two months now and it's been at 40mb/10mb since I got it (actual speeds), no dropouts or slow downs, not a single issue. I'm very impressed with it.

Getting mine installed tomorrow. woooo! 10 days without home internet certaintly is a sin against my human rights ;)

Am I correct in thinking that the openreach engineer can happily install the line on the first floor at the front of the house providing the cabling is under 30m?

I'm still synced at 30000/2696, I hope it goes back to 40000/10000 in the next few days!

Hi Andy, what's your speed like now? You should have had a speed increase by now and you should be able to notice it. Reset your Sky Hub not the BT Modem, done mine l'm nearly back to 40000/9996 and check your stats.

Yep, I got mine extended up to my bedroom to avoid using wireless or powerline. Was about 20m of extra wiring in total and done for free and very neatly. Hasn't affected speeds either, as my connection is constantly at 40/10.

Had the service for 3 months, couldn't recommend it more. Not a second down time, downloads at 4.4mb/s consistently at peak times and never had a ping over 10ms.

Well something very annoying happened to me when ordering Sky Fibre

I moved into a new house and called Sky 3 weeks before moving in and was advised Fibre was available so I ordered the full lot 40Mbit Fibre Phone and TV

The TV was installed all good, the engineer for BB and Phone was booked at early as possible (4 week wait!)

About 2 weeks later I got a letter through the door stating the order had been cancelled with no information on the letter and just to call them

When I called they advised that Fibre wasn't available (even though my mate has it 0.4 miles away in the same town) granted it is a new build house but still.

Anyway after half a day of hassle they said the best they could offer was 2 - 5Mbit :( which I think is absolutely disgusting to mis-lead me like that.

I managed to sort out a decent price for the full package although this isn't the point as my I-net is now going to be crap! I assume my cabinet isn't fiber enabled although they couldn't give me any information at all on why the order had been cancelled.

Anyway of finding out when my cabinet might be enabled?? (as I said my mate not even half a mile away can get fiber) Sky wouldn't give me any information at all and nor will BT :(

install went fine for me, ended up being that the master socket was upstairs anyway, ended up having to buy some cat6 to get to the modem on the other side of the room though, but decent speeds 40/10 and seems stable at all hours so far.
