Sky Fibre Optic

Quick question, when I had my Mac I would get 37Mb all day every day.
Now that I have a PC with a Asus USB-N10 Micro USB 150mb wireless stick, would that cause a problem for slow speed (now approx 5mb to 15mb) or is it time to give Sky a call?

I asked Draytek for the firmware and told me that they wouldn't supply it as all the latest firmwares had MER built in :(

Any chance you can trust over the firmware/instructions please iMacMart?

Just had my sky installed this morning. Is there any way to find out what the real sync speed is? Im guessing the value reported by the sky router is actually real?

Also, I know that the line needs to test to find out what is stable, how long does that last for? It seems to be dropping out at an ever decreasing time frame, and then when it does, it also disconnects me from the wifi connection as well (odd)!

Cheers

The router reports the real sync speed.

There isn't a training period.

Is there not? Hmm, seems to be a few posts on other forums that mention that this still happens with FTTC, all be it a lot faster than the old 10 days that DSL has.

Edit:

Just looked on the router at the line stats...

WAN WANoE 643091 1096281 0 7801 18051 06:14:19

And the WLAN is showing the same up time. Maybe its just my crummy laptop then that is disconnecting.

Doh!

i dont believe the router does show your sync speed.
For example mine shows 40mb when I actually get 30mb down. A friend who is on sky also shows 40mb sync yet gets 24mb down (this is on wired not wireless.)

I believe it shows your profile rather than sync speed but, waiting to be able to unlock the modem to find out for sure (damm eci modem)
