Sky Fibre Optic

For those of you that ordered Sky Fibre how long did it take them to send the router, I'm supposed to be having mine installed on Monday and have not received it yet even though I ordered it a few weeks back.

It's supposed to arrive a week before the install date, so it might be worth giving them a call tomorrow.

You should be able to see on the website, whether or not they've shipped the router (I think I also received a txt when they shipped mine as well....)

Had sky fiber in Jan and the speed had settled on 32down and 6.2up.

The router was interfering with my PX5's so moved it about 5m across room and now my upload seems to have dropped to 4.8up. Modem is still in the same place.

Other than the Billion 7800n (This won't allow Airprint access to my Canon printer) what are people thought on a good router??

I've heard good things about the Asus RT-N56U

BT Openreach engineer left about 11am this morning. This is my result now:

Chuffed to punch for Day 1. Heres hoping its stable and stays like this.

Been with AoL for 13 years, Yesterday had a 3 hour heated conversation to get out of the 12 month contract we took on to get 3 months free which we never recieved and to cancel.

2/3 Months ago we had an engineer come out and mess around with router settings as the connection kept dropping, was sorted for a week atleast and since then been having either no internet at all, extremly long loading times then cannot display web page, certain websites not loading but then 30 seconds later they will, now no service at all.

We spent 2 hours on to the call centres, After painfully going through procedure.. We had an engineer scheduled (After convincing them it wasn't my Laptop, my computer, my dads laptop, my iPhone and last of all my girfriends laptop which was causing me the problem for a 29 days wait.. Wasn't too pleased but we waited in all day and no one came so we then called them another hour on the phone having to go through all the procedures again they had not got one booked so they sent us a new router and scheduled an engineer to come out last Saturday. He got here and said as Talktalk own AoL now they haven't transfered your details over therefore I cannot even touch anything.. Bare in mind we waited a month for that guy also we were pretty annoyed he then scheduled another guy to come either today, next wednesday, wednesday afterwards.. Recieved no text as promised called up and nothings been booked in so thata the last straw!!!!

Time to get rid of my 1/2Mb Download, 0.30 Upload connection..

BT Infinity ordered, Fibre to box, Copper to house Estimated 24MB and 5MB Upload at this address..

Should be an unreal improvement with what I have put up with, shame we gotta wait until 21st March!

Mines meant to be getting installed (3rd attempt) on Tuesday next week. Still not received my router yet.

Going by when yours turned up, Im hoping I get it through tomorrow.

Well mine was supposed to be getting installed last Monday but the openreach engineer went to the wrong address so its being done on Saturday. Its really annoying as I knew they were starting as they took me off the ADSL circuit, I had the kettle on and everything and it took them a day to reconnect the ADSL.

Ok so the install happened this morning while I was at work (it was supposed to be between 1pm-6pm!) how can I check my sync speed with the ECI modem?

On speedtest.net i'm getting 20 down / 8 up but all of our machines are on wifi, I'm going to grab my laptop from the van in a min and connect it directly to the sky router. The speed was estimated at 34 down on all of the checkers so hopefully it will settle on that.

EDIT:
Just found this;-

Modem

Modem Status
Connected
DownStream Connection Speed 40000
UpStream Connection Speed 9996

So it is synced at 40mbps downstream yeah?

EDIT2
So this is plugged directly into the router from my laptop
