Sky Friends and Family deal thread! Now with, er NOW deals!

Full sky stream package with 500mb broadband is only like £70 these days.

You can get the full package on Now TV for around £50 per month and watch it in any room or mobile device - they're even doing UHD on Now TV.

I'm sorry mate, but £170 a month is just mental.
My sky package is 70mb(the slowest) broadband including landline..... On the tv sides of things, I have 2 mini's, the movies, netfix, boxsets and the normal tv package(think its called "sky tv")... I dont buy any films or box office stuff and that is £110 but was £170 as I was saying..

When we upgraded to skyq 3yrs ago it started at £110 then aswel,, but like I keep saying sky keeps putting stuff up by £2-£3 every few months, so it will be back up to £170 or higher in another 3yrs no doubt and will have to threaten to cancel sky again to get it back down again... And why oh why cant you change anything in your sky account, as I've tried multiple of times and it just says "try again later", so you have to ring sky to TRY to change stuff.

I have Movies (£4.99), Netflix (£6.99), Boxsets & Entertainment (£6.99), HD/UHD (£6). Watch in any room, on the go, download etc.. total is £25.

Talk Talk Broadband 500mb is £35.

Wow netflix on sky has gone through the roof.

So there are 3 options the recent changes that Netflix have done :

Option 1:
Netflix standard with ads will cost you £4.50 a month which Netflix provides for £4.99.

Option2:
Boost to Netflix Standard without ads will cost you £10.50 a month which Netflix provides for £10.99.

Option 3:
Boost to Netflix premium without ads will cost you £15.50 a month which Netflix provides for £17.99.

So for the first option which is with ads there will be ads in between 2 episodes (in an hour).

Sorry but I haven't read this whole thread but if I wanted to get Sky Stream what would the cheapest option be?

I'm looking for entertainment, sport and cinema with the 4k and ad skipping addons.

I'm not sure whether to go with the 24 month contract or the one month rolling contract. I did have it for a short period of time earlier this year but sent it back because the TV I had at the time wasn't up to the task.

Got a poor deal as an existing customer but folks didn't want to threaten to cancel as they wanted to move to Stream or Q whilst I was around to setup.
Cancellation seems to be the only way.

Also, they seem to have upped their shyster practices since I last dealt with them. Saying they couldn't setup the order without UHD & Ad skipping but could cancel as soon as I activated.
Couldn't do it online because of 'try again later' and then had to be very forceful on the phone.

Would have rather them do NowTV tbh, but they like their integrated TV guide too much.

I honestly think NowTV is the best option for cost and multiple devices. My wife took a bit of persuading as she was so used to the Sky Box with it's TV guide and she was still fixated on series links and recording stuff. I eventually got her to try it for a month and pretty much straight away she was like, yes I see what you mean by Sky Q being totally outdated.

Our Sky Q discount is coming to an end this month. Looking at jumping to Now TV and figuring that out. We'd like all packages, Entertainment, cinema and sports. Is there a way to add all 3 at once to your basket, can only seem to add one then its going to checkout. Also, we'd want the ultra boost to get UHD and Atmos, is that a one off payment of £9, or is it £9 for each package, so £18 or £27 in total extra? Cheers.

Hmm... or would Sky Stream be better? Time for research!

Ultra Boost is a single monthly payment of £9pm which covers all content - be it Entertainment, Cinema or Sports. You can easily get it for half that price though.
Stream is worth considering if you need the free-to-air channels via streaming too and discounted Netflix. The Stream puck hardware is still slow IMHO and glitchy. Fast forwarding and rewinding is a pain. With Boost or Ultra Boost you get on demand content ad-free and don't need to fast forward them.
If you have a half decent streaming device or smart TV with the NOW app then it may be a faster, smoother, cheaper and more reliable experience than with a Sky Stream puck.

Does anyone have a TNT sport subscription though SKY ? it seems these channels are now IPtv verus the BT predecessors that came from the SKY satellite ,
so you need a decent wifi signal at point in the house where sky box is, if you are watching live, or a cable run.
My parents don't have decent wifi and this doesn't matter for normal sky catch up where they have usually downloaded the program offline, which wouldn't care if the wifi is not brilliant.

I don't know if the TNT sport sky subscription does gives you a full sky catchup service on those sport programs either,
my parents are familiar with the sky box use, but the alternative&cheaper option (£15/£20) of taking an EE tv box with unfamiliar(clunky?) interface maybe unusable to them.

Not sure I now understand TNT sport cost through Sky ?
These folks https://www.radiotimes.com/technology/technology-deals/tnt-sports-offers/ suggested £20 to add to sky package
The cheapest way to get TNT Sports is by adding it on to a pre-existing TV or mobile contract. While buying it through Amazon Prime or Discovery Plus will cost you £30.99 a month, signing up through previous BT Broadband or Sky Sports contracts will cost you just £20 a month.
but parents have apparently been told £30pm after ringing sky up ... where, also, the sky representative apparently couldn't tell them if you could record tnt sports onto the SkyQ box or not ?
