I don't believe it's possible to take individual channels any longer. Call up and speak to someone and ask if there are any deals on, usually there's something rather than just doing it online. The other option is getting a Now Sub, it's likeky if your TV is a Smart one that it'll have the NOW App on it and sometimes it can be cheaper there.

I did ring them up a few weeks ago, but they cant give me no deals... Its just stupid having to pay all that money only to watch 1 or 2 channels... Its the same with NOW TV you can't just pay for 1 or 2 channels... ITS BLUMMING STUPID

From a business PoV it's not, but from a consumer PoV I agree. FWIW when we sold the channels individually it was like £2 cheaper per month than taking them all for an individual channel or something equally small.

I think with NOW its something like £10-15 a day or £26 a month for all the sports channels... Just a thought, could I watch the darts with the Sky's "On Demand" or wont it let you download sports stuff if you havent got the sports channels?

Correct, no downloads without the correct subscription either.

Sky is terrible for upping the price here and there every few months.. I was paying £110 3yrs ago.. Now Im paying £170!!!... or that was untill a few weeks ago,, but, but I had to threaten them that I was going to cancel if they couldnt get the price down.. So its now back to £110 without the sports, but I can guarntee the price will start going up again in 1 or 2 months and it will be back to £170 in no time at all I bet... Isn't that Illegal todo this?

£110 without Sports, and £170 with Sports. So, Sports is costing £60. It must be multi room that's making it so expensive, so surely NowTV is the way to go?

No, sky had just been upping the price £2-£3 here and there every few months over the 3yrs on the whole sky package, not just the sports.... We've had sky since it started near enough about 30yrs ago and it started out something like £15 a month for everything.

Sky only puts their standard prices up once a year.

Consider what you got 30 years ago compared to the choice, functionality and technology you have now. There really is no comparison. Inflation over 30 years has meant your '£15' is now over £30. Would you settle for the same as you had when Sky launched in February 1989? No free box, upfront costs or £250 for box and install. In 1989.

Sky Movies became the first subscription channel in early 1990. IIRC it was £8 per month.

Sky supplied a separate decoder box, with a slot for the viewing card, free of charge,

There were three Sky channels. Sky Channel (renamed to Sky One), Sky News and Sky Movies. Sky also owned part of Eurosport.

Other non-Sky channels included were Screensport and MTV.

There was a total capacity for 16 channels.

Sky now offers over 300 channels on Digital and around 150 on Stream & Glass.

The only plus with sky now and pre 2000's is the on demand stuff, netflix etc and being able to record and pause tv... The mini boxes are a bit of a downgrade coming from the sky+hd boxes as everything runs off the 1 main box, so you cant have separate recordings, etc.. I think the mini boxes were a aim to save money because theres nothing to them at all, plus you cant run anymore than 2 mini boxes at once. And this sky stream, with trying to do away with dishes and boxes is another way of trying to save money too, and sky constantly upping the price all the time,, its a joke

Plus 80% of stuff on tv is total and utter rubbish now...

It saves massively on cabling as well as previously each box required a connection to the dish. Also the channel availability is a massive difference. When Sky launched there was 1 movie channel. if you didn't like what was being shown, tough, you had to wait.

And no, they really don't 'put the prices up every few months'. They legally need to tell you if your bill is rising and it states in their T's and C's they will only do so with at least 31 days notice, usually more. You can view the full terms and conditions here: https://static.skyassets.com/conten...bc5b50d0687c206be/download?disposition=inline

Why does my bill constantly increase then... And the thing is people cant be bothered ringing sky up every few months to to sort it out, so they leave it like me until there paying a stupid amount of money and then they ring and blow there tops, but by that time sky has made a load more money from people, with upping the price sneaky every few months.

Have you looked at your bill to see? it breaks it all down for you and you can look at previous bills and estimated future bills too. Sky Store, billable calls or other potential subscriptions such as Disney+ or TNT Sports may change in price but those are outwith Sky's control.

And if you say you dont want this or that, they say its with you package and cant be changed,, so you have to threaten that your going to cancel before they will do anything about it.......

You can get the full package on Now TV for around £50 per month and watch it in any room or mobile device - they're even doing UHD on Now TV.

I'm sorry mate, but £170 a month is just mental.
