SKY HD

Well mine went in yesterday and I have to say I was very impressed with the engineer. He did a top job with the cable routing. Very tidy.

The PQ is excellent although I did notice quite a few compression artifacts on Sky Movies 9 HD while watching Shrek2 last night.

BBC HD test is a bit of a let down. The preview that runs during the day is ace but the programming in the evening is in SD and occupies a box in the middle of the screen with some text at the bottom telling you that the source isn't HD material.

So far very impresed with HD picture quality on my Samsung 32" LCD screen.

For SD I have to have the Sky box set to 720p or 1080i as on auto the 576 picture is worse than scart. This is true on both HDMI and Component output.

National Geographic and BBC HD are absolutly stunning, but not so impressed with some of the other chanels that seem to broadcast in what looks like 14:9 with bars down the side of the screen.

Need to sort out routing the HD output upstairs now either by 10 to 15 meter Component cable or over Cat5.

One thing I really really want to know do the SD channels looks better through the hdmi then on a normal sky + box because on my hitechi lcd some of the channels from sky look pap.

That dosent sound good Im not talking about compared to Hd channels because I mainly watch other channels then the one which are being offered in HD

I mean compared to my old sky box through rgb, they look slightly fuzzy , sky news used to be very good on my old box, doesnt look that good through the hdmi on the sky hd box.

I would imagine your TV is down scaling the 1080i image too now.
