*** Sky Q Thread ***

I feel like a lemon, almost begging to join Sky, yet the deals are no where near what anyone else gets. Its like Sky are over charging me to compensate for giving others savings.

Im at the point where ill stick with Virgin and pay more with them as Sky just cant get close price wise. Maybe I expect too much, but 76 quid for a normal Sky Q box with Vairety, Moives and Sports is way more than anyone else pays.

Had sky q 1tb in for a few days now
Keeps freezing and I have to pull the power from the box.

Engineer coming out Friday to fit another box, if that one has issues they will fit the 2tb instead

so for UHD - you need 2TB box and multiscreen? I wonder why that is apart from another money making gimmick. Why would a 1TB box not give you UHD content and why do you really need multiscreen to access UHD?

The 1TB is physically incapable of outputting UHD. I suppose they could have made it do it when designing it but the UHD F1 race show can be close to 100GB so a 1TB drive would be a third full every F1 weekend. Multiscreen? Because they could I guess. If you get a Mini box the UHD is free?

The total price for deal is

£136

Sorry mate that's a cracking deal you won't get it cheaper than that for everything on tv 2 boxes fibre phone line and eve weekend call package.

Does anyone have issues with their Mini box intermittently showing this:

"there is a network proximity error on tour sky q mini box error mr209"

Need to reboot the box to get rid, the Q boxes are physically connected to the network.

My Sky Q 2TB box has decided it no longer wants to connect to my Wifi rendering the mini box useless. The mini box is on a wired connection so that should be OK. The main box has been working for weeks, now it's not connected to my wifi and even if I reset it, it shows connected then quickly goes back to being disconnected. I turned the box off and on but still no luck.

I'm running Ubiquity AP-AC-LR access points, every other device is working fine on them except this main Sky box, any suggestions please?

Edit - It's not my AP, I put my Asus routers wifi on and it does the same with that.

I've plugged a network cable in and it works, it's not a long term solution though as I don't want to run another cable and my router is already full, no room for a switch either.

Guess I'll call Sky and complain to them.

Mine seem to be the same.. i hard wire my skyq box to the router but neither of my mini box's since this week will connect or find my main q box on the mesh wifi (not muy own wifi) some thing must have happened as it cant be coincidence.. i think maybe its the skyq box as i can connect the mini's to my own wifi network and it at least connects fro about 5 minutes then loses the connection to the skyQ again

They have updated the firmware this week on sky Q boxes and one of the new "features" is that

  • Ethernet connectivity is now enabled by default, the automesh will now automatically determine the best connection method to use.
  • The ability to choose which connection method to use has been removed.

So if it decides that hard wired ethernet is the best solution and not wifi you have no way of setting wifi by default.

Not that it is an issue for me as I have had mine hardwired from day one.

But may be a cause if you have only just started getting issues.

Ok for one Q box with fibre, all channels, phone line and eve/weekend calls you are £65.
Show me a better deal for that price.

Also I am sure there might be install offers on just now.

I have an engineer coming tomorrow as no matter what i do cant connect mini box's by wireless. hard wired is not an option. also noticed channel audio skipping on pretty much all HD channels every few mins.

There probably isnt and i agree, but all Sky will do for me on that exact package is 76 quid.

I guess I am doing something wrong but going onto website selecting Sky Q 1TB box, all channels, (box sets & Movies & Sports) + fibre (cheapest option) + phone line is coming out at £94 (+ one off installation of £59.95) so if you are being offered £76 that is a good deal.
