*** Sky Q Thread ***

Well it's here and it's in. Man had to swap the whole dish out and get his whole spelunking gear out to get on the bungalow roof, after drilling holes in the wall to secure the ladder lol.

Had all sorts of issues trying to get the main box to connect to my network, in the end the only way we could get it working was to bypass the switch in my loft and patch from the router direct to the box. Once that was done it hooked up and he was then allowed to leave.

Missus is working from home so I shan't faff with it till she's done but obviously need to get it working with a switch in play.

4k looks pretty though!

EDIT: All sorted. For some reason one of the network cables going in to the switch was upsetting the Q box. No idea how or why since it wasn't even in the chain.

Already used to the remote.

Evening all

So I have a main sky q box in the living room, a Q mini in our bedroom, is there any way I could have another mini Q in the inlays next door? Signal strength seems fine just wondering what the limitations are?

Cheers

They're fitted by sky. So no.
Sorry should have made myself clearer, it's an annex and part of the same property ..

They currently have Virgin...

Can they record and playback, pause, and also what's the football package cost as they like their football.... want us all to be with sky to make the billing easier and cheaper for all :)

Sorry should have been clearer in my first post ...

Yes, you should have been!

As long as it's down as the same address then I don't see a problem.

Thanks, will call today and see what the football package cost is, unless anyone knows?

Or failing that get it fitted somewhere and move it, as long as it's in WiFi range it will work :)

Yes checked the range last night and it's full strength...

Just got off the phone with Sky and they gave me the below information

Sky Q mini is £99 one off payment and I keep this until I cancel the send it back
Sports is:
£27.50 for all 6 channels or £18 x1 // £22 x 2 // £26 x 3 etc

But he said an engineer needed to come to the house to install the mini Q, is that right as its just a wifi install which I'm sure I can do but
he couldn't give me an install date until he took payment? seems a bit back to front to me :(

Just wanted to check this is correct?

Thanks

Been having issues since both the main box and mini reset the other night (guessing it was an update).

Mainly on the mini with the box being very slow to react and channels breaking up. Tried reconnecting but still happens, for example changing channel brings up the number display but it won't actually change without thinking about it for ages.

Looking at that new Sky VIP thing, and found out we are on the Black tier(highest one), which gives a free Sky Q install.
Not interested in the multiroom, but the recording several things at once facility does look good(we often have to cancel recordings due to clashes).
Would there be any way of getting the basic Q package without having to pay the £12 a month extra? (Currently on HD with all the Sports channels)
thanks
