*** Sky Q Thread ***

Our sky Q cancellation went through last night so now we just have freesat through the Sky Q box (which I didn't expect)

Now the long wait until Sky offer us a decent deal...Hopefully their deals refresh in February.

Do you not have to return the Q box to Sky? All the Q contracts state the equipment is now 'hired'.

Or can/have you paid a fee to retain the Q box?

@MissChief interested if you could confirm...

You've got 90 days.

Sky actually say within 90 days.

So the equipment has to reach them within the 90 days.

However they have been known to send a request for their equipment back, in far less time than that, they asked for my brothers kit within two weeks.

On the other point, there is virtually zero deals going on with Sky Q at the moment, my brother has been trying for months, and got no where, he has had no offers at all since sending his stuff back either.

Yep that's true. Even if you get a request within 2 weeks, you don't have to send it back right away of course.

But yes, I've heard the same, limited/no offers on Q.

No indeed, you do not have to return the equipment if you do not want to.

But whether it is 90 days or 14 days you are given, if you do not return it to them so they receive it within that time limit they have given you, you are liable to a non return charge.

The charge varies between £30 and £100 per unit, depending upon what units you have not returned within the time given.

So for example, if you fail to return a Sky Q 2TB box, two Sky Q Mini boxes and a Sky Q Hub, you'll be charged £270.

Why would they give an offer after you return the box? You have no bargaining power. At least with good old HD you have the equipment

I was thinking this, you don't have hardware so no impulse buy and if you wanted to sign up again there would probably be a new setup fee that sours any deal. This certainly would make it far less likely I'd sign up again as before when I've lapsed before it's been the fact that it's almost instant to get reconnected and I can watch the program that piqued my interest again.

Has anyone recently come to the end, or near the end, of a 60% off deal and got any further 60% off deals by Sky automatically?

I've been offered 50% off for 18 months with a £10 admin fee, takes it from £47 something to £51 which I am tempted to take.

Is that the full package, I was offered full package for £61.50 a month with no install fee for 12 months then £95. My current contract ends in a couple of day not sure weather to just let it run out.

We had a flyer through from Sky today - to come back.

£13 for Entertainment
£3 for HD
£3 for Boxsets
£12 for Multiroom

Total = £31 a month for 12 month contract. And I just keep the 2TB Sky Q and Sky Q Mini box that I already have.

Not too bad...only £3 a month cheaper than what we were offered before cancelling though...

Given that I don't have the Sports or Movie Packages, What UHD content does Sky Q deliver?

I priced it up and it doesn't seem to be any more expensive, but I'd have to be careful about my offers expiring within the 18 month contract and getting stung for £91 for the remainder. Q certainly wouldn't be worth it if the UHD content is dire.

I’m getting sky q installed on the 13th of next month I asked about a hybrid lnb as I have a cable running from my dish to the tv for free sat but they said they don’t supply them and would have purchase one myself, is this true as I know of people where the engineer has installed the hybrid for people.

Looks like HDR is coming to Sky Q!

Beginning next month, Sky Q will become a smarter and more intuitive service.

Among the developments are a new, wide-screen user interface intended to make it easier to navigate between personalised ('Most Recent Recordings', 'Favourite Channels') and curated ('Box Sets', 'Movies', 'Catch-Up TV') sections of content.

Voice functionality will be extended, so vocalising instructions like "show movies for me" or questions like "how's the weather today?" will result in personalised answers.

Some 4K content will be available in HDR - arguably as big an improvement to the viewing experience as 4K itself.

The Sky Q app will be available on third-party devices (including smart TVs), while the sports section of Sky Q will integrate with the Sky Sports app - so you can always keep abreast of the latest relevant sports news.

Customers with multiple devices will be able to stream Sky content on the Sky Q app to more devices at the same time.

And in Spring, Spotify will launch on Sky Q in the UK and Ireland - owners of both Sky Q and Sky's Soundbox soundbar will, according to the company, be able to enjoy "a simple set-up for a high quality home music solution".

They stopped supplying Hybrid LNB's last year.

Luckily the guy did install it on mine which was around December 2016.

If sky are wanting customers to come from the "normal sky" as they put it to the more premium lol they aren't doing a very good job of drawing me in with the high costs.
