*** Sky Q Thread ***

Noticed last night that Sky have added channel 100 to appear at the top of the guide advising people that they are moving some channels around. Bringing Documentary channels such as discovery from 520 to 125 and moving the +1 channels to their own block.

Got the update also, about time HDR came onto the platform as Netflix/Amazon has had it for sometime. Supposedly Netflix app is also coming soon, as a dual subscriber could be interesting.

AFAIK currently it's a layout update with the inclusion of Spotify (which I don't use) the other products (Netflix, HDR etc.) are coming but there doesn't seem to be a solid date.

I'm also a 4K HDR Netflix subscriber and my assumption is that Sky will be using DV version of HDR when it's turned on, it makes sense that they add Netflix at the same time and include these formats as DV is already present on Netflix. I'm looking forward to the integration on to one viewing platform.

I also recently read that the BBC's 4K HLG content will be via iplayer only and will not be coming to the Q platform. My TV has it through the built in app anyway but if true it's a PITA to have to switch across.

I’ve had the update and the layout update is alright I guess, but it appears less sharp and the blue used for the background isn’t as nice as before unless I’m imagining things?

Anyone having issues with their box randomly turning on? Seems to happen more often in the middle of the night as it powers the TV on.

Got the update on the main Q box and the mini, had to reboot the main box to get it back connected to the wifi even though every other device in the house worked ok.

Liking the new layout though the blue used seems to have been changed to a brighter one now?

We've just recently moved over to Sky Q with 1 mini-box & Sky broadband also - generally speaking do people find that gaming is okay on this setup? I.e. does the mini-box streaming/ downloading everything from the main box have any effect on your ping or lag in-game?

Never noticed anything unusual

I have them on their own network..Its a big house so the engineer put a sky router in for us just for Q

Am I correct in thinking you only get UHD via Q silver NOT the mini boxes.... So if you have 2 UHD tv's you aint getting it on both

I like the new layout, still needs a bit of refining. Also agree on the blue, it is lighter on the rhs which is annoying, also when is a black theme going to come out for Q? I know you can use High contrast mode in accessibility settings but its not the same

Yes UHD content only shows on the main box, the mini box will still play any downloads but only in HD.

Got the new channel designations this morning, I like the way the +1 now mirror the numbers for the main channels but it'll all take some getting used to as I'm old school and traditionally channel hop around my favourites by number.

I don't know if it's a bug or the system needs time to settle down but the +1 category in the left hand menu only shows about 10 of the many +1 channels.

Anyone bought an additional mini box recently? Just wondering what the cost is.

Shouldnt need installation as its just connecting to wi-fi!

£99 usually. If the WiFi won't reach the box or the signal isn't strong enough for a consistent stream the engineer will also install a booster FOC as part of the visit.
