*** Sky Q Thread ***

Any time I've tried playing UHD content on the mini I get the message that it can't be played.

Odd on my mini UHD doesn't show as an option, example I download Billions in UHD and I can watch that on the main box if I then watch the same episode on the mini it's only in HD

Just tried it again now and I get a message telling me that I can't play it. As @MissChief pointed out. The box doesn't scale UHD content to the minis, are you sure that you are watching the UHD version?

However the q box will happily hold the UHD version along side the HD version and will show as two seperate episodes.

Also - anyone watching Westworld? The image quality of the 2am recording is terrible in HD, blacks flicker on my oled.

Since the update to the 'widescreen' layout has anyone else noticed when your fast forwarding or pausing with the black bar on the bottom is on screen that it adds lines across the screen until the bar disappears. I don't mean graphical glitches more of a mesh look as though the bar is 'fullscreen' but you only see the bottom part.

I self install my mini box twice a day as I move it between rooms. @ £29 I might have considered a 2nd but for £69 I think I'll keep moving it.

Since the recent firmware update I've been getting sound drop outs on the movie channels, but not elsewhere, and the main box still only has a partially updated +1 section in the TV guide. The mini seems to have the full list.

just realised it was you that asked me for a Sky Q code. THis isn't an offer from myself, it's the new standard pricing for self install Q Mini boxes.

Thats fine.
Just called up and got the mini box for £26 self install. The guy had to check with his team leader as its the first one he had sold! cant complain!

With the above self install mini boxes. I already have one which was installed when I had my skyQ engineer visit to install Q.

If I call up will the additional box cost me £29 or with me already having one or would I have to pay £69?

Edit: Just re-reading the above posts I would have to pay £69 with me already having one, correct?

In that case, when I had skyQ installed the engineer disconnected my second feed which went upstairs when I had sky +. If I was to buy a quad Hybrid Q LNB and fit this to the dish and re-connect the second feed would I be able to watch sky on feed I originally had upstairs? I have the old viewing card would I need a new one? Or would this still work?

So I’d have a SkY Q 2tb box hard wired in living room / Mini box in kitchen wireless / sky + box upstairs hardwired from the second feed all from the one dish.

Thanks

The only way to watch Sky in another room when you have Q is another Mini box. Even with a hybrid LNB and Sky+HD box you won't have a viewing card to use. And yes £69 for your mini but your monthly bill won't change.

Yes, that would work.. The old Sky+ box wouldn't record etc or get any subscription channels though. Your best bet is to just get another mini.
