*** Sky Q Thread ***

I guess this is Q related.....
Game of Thrones - Final Season.
This should be available in UHD on Q. I'm assuming that the 2:00am showing is going to be in HD with the UHD download available at almost the same time?
I don't get up at silly o'clock, but would want to watch it once I'm home from work in the evening - hoping I can get the UHD version quite quickly....

I didn’t see an option for UHD when I set up my series link the other day. Has this been confirmed then?

Game of thrones afaik has never been available in UHD on Sky. In fact I think that season 1 has only recently been released on 4k Blu-ray. I think the best your going to get will be HD for the latest season

I'd be extremely disappointed if we can't download it in 4k - considering some of the **** we can download in 4k and the type of show this is.

I would be surprised if it was available in 4k on sky, I'd put money on a 4k HBO complete box set released just after the final episode for £100 or so as it's such as cash cow. I'd also bet money on Sky then making it available about 6 months later as 4k HDR to coincide with HDR being turned on to pull in new upgrades and subs. Expect to be disappointed, it's not even got the Blu-ray versions Atmos soundtrack on sky.

It will also be pulled from the on demand section shortly after the final episode goes up not to effect the dvd and Blu-ray sales as has been after every season so far, to keep it on your sky box you will have to series link it so even if sky have the 4k version it won't last long as on-demand downloads such as GOT have a time limit before they are removed.

Does anyone have any idea on getting BT Sport on Sky Q?

I've made numerous calls to BT to try and get it added, it gets added to the main box by giving out the viewing card number, this side of things all works well. I've asked for it to be on my Mini box to which they state that it will, however after a day of trying to get it working I am still presented with a blank screen.

There is no need for it on my main box, however I am happy for it to be there if it won't cost any more, it just won't be used, the mini box is where it is needed. BT don't seem to understand this and neither do Sky support.

Definitely something BT can do but there’s an extra charge, I think around £4pm from BT.

Extra cost with it of £4 isn't really an issue as it is a rolling contract with the first three months free which I'll be cancelling after three months. I just had to pay a one off payment of £35 to activate, I have now provided them with the viewing card number of the mini - I didn't realise it actually had one, but I found it in settings. They couldn't enable multiroom on it and have passed it onto their support and look to get it resolved in 24-48 hours. If they can't fix it by then I'll be asking for the one off payment back and cancelling.

The BT website is terrible where you can't just create an account and watch easily, there are so many different prices that it just becomes confusing. Sky could then make it easier by having it as an app on a box where someone can log in and view, similar to how Netflix works on there.

The viewing card number within settings is the same card number that’s in the main box. It sounds like they’re unaware it’s sky Q you have.

It was made clear to them it was Sky Q.

The downside is that it's probably unskilled/untrained phone jockeys that I've been speaking to.

My full Sky Q package inc extra mini box was due to go from £65 to £95. After cancelling I got an offer about a week later for £40 for the full package, £53 inc. the extra box. Pretty pleased with that. I am (mostly) fortunate to be in a Virgin area so Sky know they need to be competitive.

After many calls to BT over the last couple of days and the "unusual fault not allowing multiroom to be enabled" being referred to their IT department, I was surprised to actually have their "IT Team" call me. The guy I spoke with asked if it was Sky Q or standard Sky HD, I said it was Sky Q and that was it, after a couple of minutes the TV sprung to life showing BT Sport.

Just goes to show they have at least one person working there that has heard of Sky Q, perhaps he will go on to educate everyone else that works there!

Do you still have to pay £6 a month to enable multiroom for BT Sport?

I'd the extra multiroom charge will still apply, seeing as that at one point it was only showing BT Sport on the main box and not the mini.

Just need to get HD added today though as it seems whilst the people there can answer the phone and take payment details, they are unable to listen to simple things like "it's Sky Q" or "HD subscription" - I started to wonder over the weekend if the people there were out on day release at a call centre.

Do you have box sets sports and movies in HD? I have just cancelled mine and have had a few calls from Sky to keep me, the best they've all been able to offer is 65pm for my current full package + the minibox I have. This was after the lady I spoke with yesterday spoke with her manager to see if they could do better. Virgin is also very popular in my area, infact I signed up with them, due to be installed this weekend although Id rather keep the Q but money talks.

Yes, I have box sets and HD. I was only able to get this after cancelling. An offer came through about a week or so later. If you are patient it should show up.

I've had a few emails offering entertainment and sky sports in SD for £42 a month so that's not even close to what they offered you, I cancelled a few weeks ago too the swines! I wonder if I say "but you offered SpeedFreak from OcUK x amount" they'll know who I mean :D

I never had an issue when I went directly through BT with getting it on the mini.Just did it on the website I think. Was a little extra.

I got there in the end with it, took a couple more calls though as whilst it was stated as being HD that wasn't what they added to the account!
