If I want another mini box, will they just send it out to me or insist on sending an installer?

I'll call them and ask a bit later but was just wondering if anyone knew.

No self install and apparently it's £50 for the extra mini box engineer install.

Cool thanks.

EDIT: I misinterpreted what you said by the looks of it. I assumed you meant "no" to my question and that it was "self install", not "no self install". My mistake as I found out shortly afterward.

Two days. Two whole days Sky managed to go before ******* me off!

There is no self-install option for additional mini boxes. It's £50 installation charge which not even the retentions department could waive.

Nowhere on the website is this mentioned, that I can see. What's most irritating is that I consciously decided to wait until after installation, to make sure everything was working ok, before adding the second box as I figured it was £99 extra either way. Had I known about this hidden installation fee I'd have added the second box to the initial order and saved myself £50.

Well done Sky, seriously. New customer back after 15 years and on day three you've managed to seriously **** me off. Excellent customer service there.

Be interesting to see what they did if you reported your first mini box as faulty when its not. Engineer turns up with replacement box, tell him the first mini box is now working could he just set the replacement one up to ?

Sky bloke told me they are barcoded and have to be Scanned in and out when replaced

Well I bent over and paid the £149. Truth be told I don't really have an issue with them insisting on an engineer generally as they need to make sure there's enough Wifi coverage etc etc and do all the checks they do during the regular install.

What I have a problem with is that, had I known about this three days ago, I'd have opted for the extra box during the install, saving myself £50 and a wait for another install visit. That they don't make this clear on the site when ordering is ridiculous. The various people I spoke to all said they agreed with me and appreciated my annoyance having only just had the system installed but said there was nothing they could do.

Love the system but Sky's customer service is as shocking as ever it would seem.

Sitting here watching the IPL via the mini box and I have to say I'm quite impressed with the picture quality. Not sure if it's because the boxes can now output 1080p (as the signal is obv the same) but it seems just a tad cleaner than regular +HD and the best broadcast HD picture I've seen.

I'd be surprised if they ever offer self install. Especially in flats. I can pick up my wifi next door but one, thanks to my unifi AP. And all 3 houses are detached.

That's an interesting point actually as I didn't see exactly how the mini was "paired" with the main box. There must be some kind of authentication process but I'm not sure exactly how it works. I'll have to pay more attention with the next one..

I appreciate their insistence on engineer installs for Q kit, I'm just annoyed they didn't make the install charge clearer when I originally ordered as I'd have just had the second mini installed at the same time. Oh well.

If the blue light is annoying you on recording playback then swipe right on the touch pad and then swipe up to turn it off.

Couple of results today.

Rebooted the Silver and the iPad now works again and managed to get Sky to credit me back the £50 install charge.

If the blue light is annoying you on recording playback then swipe right on the touch pad and then swipe up to turn it off.

Swipe right then back button also works.

I've ordered some dimming film things to put over the annoying blue logo, will report on effectiveness.

BTW I am getting the occasional audio dropout issue which has been widely reported, although it's not often enough to cause any real annoyance.

Have tried the recommended tweaks to no avail, hopefully the new firmware MissChief is testing will cure it as apparently Sky are aware.
