*** Sky Q Thread ***

I have dumped the touch remote and I'm just using the classic ones.

Would still like to be able to press one button to take me straight to the EPG.

Hi all,

I ordered Sky Q silver last night with a single mini box for the back room TV and really looking forward to it now!

Quick question about the Sky Q app and Sky GO. From speaking to Sky the Sky GO stays exactly the same and the Sky Q is separate. Now I use Sky Go website sometimes at work so use all 4 devices, can you register 4 devices on sky go and another 4 devices with the Sky Q app or are they linked somehow?

My wife dumped the touch on me. My niggle with this is the accidental trigger of the pause/forward/reverse bar.

Quick question:

Do the iPads have to be on the same network as what the Sky Q will be using?

We have a couple of iPads which are on our VM 5ghz network but I understand Sky Q will be using the 2.4ghz network.

Nope, as long as they are on the same subnet, should be good to go.

Unable to watch tv programs yesterday on the mini box. Recordings worked and the tv guide was there but program screen blank. Unpowered mini, restarted Q box then repowered the mini and all back to normal.

Q includes Sky Go Extra as standard so you'll still get the 4 devices.

You can use the Q app or the Go app (or the Sports app for the Sports channels) for viewing but they all contribute to the same pool of 4 devices.

This is only when streaming away from the home of course. When on your local network, the Q app will stream directly from the Q Silver box which doesn't use Internet bandwidth, doesn't contribute to the Go device count and allows viewing of more channels.

Saw that article last night. There's no chance they're going to launch UHD services this week - it'll merely be an announcement about what they are doing and when.

The boxes all need a (mythical) firmware update to even support UHD so I can't see them rolling that out tomorrow and then immediately providing UHD. They've got enough bugs to iron out already without throwing that into the mix too :)

I hope they do actually reveal some of their plans though as I'd like to know what we can expect. Desperately hoping for the Ryder Cup in UHD. Bought a new 4K TV yesterday (replacing my 8 year old set).

Looking forward to hearing the announcement but they could do with announcing a bug fix release as well.

I agree, but still nice to get an update on when the rollout will be.

I'd like to think the UHD update will include bugs to these fixes (haven't had any issues yet) that people are having.

So far it just looks like a rebrand from Sky Movies to Sky Cinema.

The event is still on going though however for additional news.

EDIT - No 4K news.
