*** Sky Q Thread ***

End of the year for movies.

What a pointless waste of time. How about you spend a bit more effort fixing the myriad of issues with Q rather than pointless rebrands of Sky Movies?

Well technically this wasn't a Sky Q presentation was it? The press release clearly said changes to Sky Movies.

If it was a Sky Q one then maybe I could understand the frustration.

So only Sky Cinema:

The enhanced viewing experience will come to life through a number of new features for customers watching through Sky+HD or Sky Q including:

•New, improved HD as standard

•Even better sound quality, closer to the cinema experience, for on demand films

•New tools to help customers watch and find their favourite films including the ‘Restart’ feature which means customers can watch films from the very beginning no matter what point they switch on

Sky Q customers can look forward to Ultra HD films by the end of the year

To improve the HD, Sky is using a new internal master format that provides a third more pixels and four times the number of colour shades of the current HD offered. This means sharper and more vibrant pictures for a better viewing experience. As well as improved picture, selected movies on demand will also have sound closer to cinema. The sound range has been increased in part by taking the audio track straight from the studios. It means louder bangs and quieter whispers with no need for customer to make any adjustments to their TV.

just had Q installed.

so far working perfect. Main box is hard wired into my router and 2 mini box's wireless into the main box.

Impressed with the GUI definitely a lot more modern then the older box's which i like.. has not taken long to get used to the controls.

Good to hear - mine is getting installed tomorrow, and I need to reset the Q Hub back to default network settings, from what I read, to make sure the funky 'mesh' feature works properly (I had delinked the bands and renamed the networks )

i dont even have wireless on my sky hub its disabled and have wirless running through my own AP

guy had no problems connecting to my wifi he just reminded me that by using my own AP i would not get the hot spot function from the mini box's

Getting mine install next Saturday. Got my new hub setup tonight and I mus say its a vast improvement on the SR102!

Wireless AC performance with my laptop is great and the range is about double and thats without and boosts from the Q boxes.

Looking forward to my install now!

Read somewhere that Sky promising 33% more pixels or something for their Sky Cinema broadcasts. May finally be getting full HD broadcasts.

Yeah, it sounds like the movie channels thus far have been upscaled 1440x1080 broadcasts and they're finally switching to full 1920x1080.

Actually, that is the main reason I reverted it back to default. I had swapped out the SR102 for a Netgear D7000 to try and improve wireless at the periphery of the house (5-bed detached which shouldn't be so tricky?)......so, was thinking that the hotspot (and mesh) functionality might be useful here. And, I have to say, that I am seeing an excellent signal from the Q Hub throughout the house! The D7000 has now been sold on to a new home!

As usual with early adoption I expect some issues. I'm experiencing box lockups. No signal. no picture(although pulling out/reinserting the HDMI cable fixes this)

I'm still running it with SkyHD and all recordings are doubled up.

Yes it has a few issues but the future looks good.

Are you using two accounts and two dishes?

Are you using two accounts and two dishes?

Yeah. Recently moved. House had a dish so hooked up our existing SkyHD boxes. And signed up to SkyQ in the OH's name. We've got a 50% deal on both at the moment so whilst we are paying twice as much as we should , were only paying the going rate if you get what I mean
