And he's text back saying I should only have the two remotes, touch for main box and other for mini box.

Was he a Sky installer or a third party contractor?

You should have been given the touch and a cursor remote for the 2TB box and a cursor remote for the mini q.

Some of our 3rd party contractors were only giving the touch out at the start.

If you have any problems, just get onto web chat and they will sort it for you.

He arrived in a sky van, so think he was a Sky installer. I'll try live chat.

Thanks.

And now the plot thickens a bit more. Why have Sky just sent me an email offering unlimited repairs on my 2TB Q box... That I don't own?

Aren't Sky maintaining these boxes like Virgin do with theirs? Are they expecting us to pay for repairs to their equipment?

Edit:

If you try to build the cover, there's an asterisk after the option for Sky Q boxes, and it relates to:

.Sky Q customers should note that they can also choose to get their loaned equipment repaired or replaced by Sky at no extra cost under their Sky Q contract.

:D :D

PPI scandal?

I had Q installed this afternoon and just got 2 remote's. If you look in both boxes there is only space for 1 remote in each box.

So far i'm very impressed with the picture quality. That said, i'm not convinced that the Q box does a better job of upscaling HD than my LG Oled does. The picture was much sharper when the LG upscaled from the Sky HD box.

What's sky q's picture quality like compared to sky HD?

Having had some time to swap and change settings now, i would say it's much much better. When mine was installed yesterday the sky engineer had left the Q box output set on 2160p, which is correct for UHD films and gives a stunning picture. However, if you then start watching say BBC1 HD, the picture lacks sharpness and punch. Changing the Q box output to 1080p when watching HD content changes that. The picture becomes as sharp and has as much punch as i would expect. I think the reason for this is that the upscaling that the Q box does is rubbish. With the box set to 1080p for HD content my LG Oled then does the upscaling and to be honest it blows the Q box out of the water.

Thanks for that mate.

A bit of early feedback from me:

I've got the 2TB silver and a mini box in another room. Picture quality is excellent (I'm using it with HD, so set for 1080p).Connectivity on the mini box so far has been flawless. I really like the new menus, and I also like the Sky Q app on tablet/phone.

Not much to complain about, other than the Bluetooth remote for the silver box which is horrendous to work for me (43 yo), so I can only wonder how bad it would be for the elderly or people with issues with dexterity.

All in all, I'm very pleased with it. However, I'll be holding off buying a 4k TV until things mature a bit further.

In August and before you get 3 remotes. 2 for the q silver and 1 for the mini. After they made sky Q cheaper to get overall and made it standard they moved to only 2 remotes.

I will check this tomorrow when I'm back at work. Of the top of my head I believe you're still supposed to get both remotes with the silver.
