Sky removing Discovery Packages

FFS...Eurosport is pretty much my fav channel.
Only watch Wheeler Dealers on Discovery but did see a new series of Born Survivor advertised earlier in the week and would have watched that but I guess this is just 1 of many more reasons to cancel my Sky sub next month.

Depressing if Eurosport gets the heave as I sometimes watch the DTM/Touring cars. Sometimes Snooker/Pool and Tennis. Sometimes watch Fast and Loud.

DTM has been on BT Sport for years.

Still, I'll miss Eurosport but the rest of the channels have become very dumbed down over the years.

I wonder what virgin media actually pays for the discovery channels i cant see it being anywhere near £1 billion if this figure is actually correct that is:)

I saw DTM races on Eurosport in November or December as Di Resta was driving. Granted it was replays.

Le Mans 24 hour was also covered on Eurosport.

Ahhh, yes they do show highlights. I thought you meant live races.

So Sky drop a few channels and still continue to raise prices. While people still pay it....pay more for less!

Yeah, imagine the uproar when they send out the annual "we're always improving the content we provide, that's why the price is going up £x"

Oh great, no more Wheeler Dealers, Gold Rush, Superbikes or Le Mans. No doubt we won't see a reduction in our monthly bills due to having less choice!! If it wasn't for the fact I am on the legacy HD package and get F1 HD for free plus you can't get Sky Atlantic or Sky 1 anywhere else I would be cancelling.

I'm the last person that would ever defend Sky but if (I emphasise the word if) the below is true it does seem very excessive given most of the shows that air now are of the job 'job of the week' type that all follow the same rinse, repeat formula.

They asked the Sky Group to pay close to £1bn for their portfolio of channels, many of which are in decline.

Sky also said:
“Sky doesn’t boot channels off our platform. If Discovery don’t want their channels to disappear, as their public campaign suggests, they could have made arrangement to stay on Sky, including free to air with advertising funding or with their own subscription, but they’ve chosen not to do so.
