Sky Stream - Launches *NOW* (post #1 for pricing / page #5 for pics)

Has Sky Stream improved much since its release? Would you recommend people stay on Q?

I'm happy with it. Picture and sound quality deffo is better on the stream box than it was Q. I like that all the apps also play in Atmos and Dolby Vision so I don't have to flick between different things anymore. Once you get used to playlists and voice commands with the remote, everything just becomes a seamless experience. Only gripe is the initial setup, as it's using every kind of streaming app, you end up having to sign in on multiple apps and most likely won't have accounts setup for BBC, ITV, 4on demand etc so you have to create accounts. It's only a one time thing so it isn't too bad but would be annoying if you need a new replacement box!

Haven't had too many bugs, just the standard netflix one which a fix is meant to be coming (gets stuck at 20%, have to just restart the app).

Overall though, happy with it and definitely wouldn't go back to Q and saves running wires everywhere.

I have Sky Q and missed the rugby early yesterday morning. I couldn't see how to watch this via a catchup service, only by waiting for the replay. Would Sky Stream have allowed me to watch this anytime?

This is good feedback, I’m in my 30 day cancellation period with SkyQ, I’m going to see how much it is for 3 pucks as my property has solid wifi coverage and it will be a lot easier to fault find per device rather than having to restart and reconnect 4 Q boxes across the property!

I'm curious if I should seek a discount. I'm paying monthly, so I don't have an 18-month contract reduction. I like the service, but it is very expensive so saving some money would be good. Should i say to Sky that I'll cancel and see what they say?

I managed to convince them to port my Q deal over so I find the value pretty good. I've got 150mbps broadband with them, then have everything on stream bar movies (including UHD and add skipping). I'm paying £75 a month.

I phoned up, they told me no discount :(

I am using a 1GB connection with Hyperoptic. I will try a LAN cable later, still within my 14 days to cancel.
Did you cancel hope you did I tried it and the same issues everything else in the house works. They have sent me a bill too which is going around in circles I was in cooling off too.

I am using a LAN cable and it’s been working fine. I’m on the 30 days service also.

I’ve just moved over to Stream, 3 pucks, got 350m Virgin with 4 x UniFi APs across my property, will see how it performs, can’t be any worse than the poor SkyQ we’ve had for years …

I probably wasn't very clear in my original request. Forget the specifics. If there was a program on any of the Sky Sports channels that was on at say 10 till 11 and it's now 11:30. Can I watch it? I can't see how to do this with Sky Q and wondered if this was a neat feature of Stream. Perhaps a bit like FreeView play where you can go backwards in time to watch a missed program if it's available on catchup, except I want it for all programmes!

I believe you can. When ever I choose something to view on Stream part way through, I get the option to "play from the start" on everything if that helps!

Misunderstood, so I'll wait for a proper answer, but I believe you can just use the EPG to do this Freeview style, although you will need to log into iPlayer etc if it's a non Sky channel.

You can add programmes to your playlist and then stream them later. You can also start a programme from the start if you start watching it late.

So I could add the program after it's aired and then watch it immediately? If I have to do it before then it's no different to Q and adding it as a recording.
