*** Sky TV Cancellation & Negotiation Thread ***

Must have fallen off of contact as I noticed sky have increased my bill from ~£40 pcm to ~£65 pcm.

I only have the basic non-hd TV package and 30-40mb fibre broadband plus the phone line rental.

Hard to justify what appears to be an extra £20-30 each month for a TV package in the era of streaming internet TV.

What's the best price can I get a basic TV/fibre broadband package for as I'm contemplating just ditching sky and moving to another provider

Just had the April prices increase email £4.50 extra a month. I have Sky Q with 2 minis no sports or movies think I'll call see what they offer not too fussed if I have to leave

My next bill is 5/3/21-4/4/21 =£85.50
Future bill is 5/4/21-4/5/21 =£100.50
Future bill is 5/5/21-4/6/21 =£109.05
Future bill is 5/6/21-4//7/21=£111.00

Luckily my tv contract is up on the 4th April 21 so Sky will get 30 days notice on 5th March 21 to cancel. My broadband/phone contract runs to September 21 but I got an email on 19/2/21 telling me about the price rises and that i can cancel within 30 days and avoid early termination charges. Back to Virgin for me, sky broadband is crap.

Make sure you notify Sky of your intention to leave your BB contract otherwise you’ll get early termination charges.

So I got a link with a text and the offer is:

But there seems to be nowhere to select multiroom/multiscreen which I had before. So I can't really accept this offer?

Do they just make up how much a package costs for every customer? The one above show HD at £7 reduced to £3, and the previous page shows it at £6 reduced to £3. Out of principal I'd never ever take Sky TV until they abolish the nonsense charge that is HD, totally fabricated way to charge more for what is now a normal everyday feature.

My Sky contract is nearly up for renewal currently pay £28pm for Sky regular channels, Sky Sports in HD. If they can't match that then its bye bye me, I think for the first time I am genuinely not overly bothered if I leave or not.

There's a whole thread on this on MoneySavingExport forums too. Some guy just posted this deal..

Sky Signature £17
Ultimate TV £5
Sky Sports + Cinema (incl Sports HD) £15
HD £3
Multiscreen £8.50
UHD Free

That comes to £48.50 but I think not quite priced yet in future bills in the system as final price post price increase was £51.50, so there is £3 missing somewhere.

Also had the usual £20 admin fee but they credited half of it at least

It's a complete lottery what you get. I'm currently on this:
Sky Signature: £17
Ultimate TV Add-on: £4
Sky Cinema: £8
Sky HD: £2
UHD: £2
TOTAL: £33pm but it's going up by £3 from April, and if they don't sort the audio drop-out issue with the Sky Q box in the next couple of months I'm going to quit.

I've not been informed of the price rise yet, but when I do, I assume I will be entitled to end my contract early without a penalty?
Nope. You can only exit a Sky broadband contract early without penalty. Sky TV contracts explicitly say that prices can rise during the duration of the contract. It would have been read out to you if you signed up on the phone, or it'll be in the small print somewhere on the original paperwork you received, probably via email.
If you look at the MySky app or login to the Sky website you can see what your future bill costs will be. If the price has gone up more than you like then all you can do is give Sky a call and see what they say, but it's unlikely they'll budge... unless you have a Sky Q box which has the intermittent audio drop-out issue and you could use that as a bargaining chip??? They're not able to provide reliable sound, therefore you shouldn't have to pay extra for a substandard service!

I cancelled on Saturday and haven't had a counter offer yet. Do they normally do that within a certain time frame?
Sweat it out. You have a 30 day cooling off period. If they don't come to you after 3 weeks then get in touch and say you've got a great offer from another supplier and want to see what Sky can do if you decide to stay...
