*** Sky TV Cancellation & Negotiation Thread ***

Boxes have turned up to return the hardware in, still no offers. Guess they have enough customers.

Moving on, we had lionsgate through sky as a VIP trial for 3 months. That hasn't ended and I can't remember if we put credit card details in for auto renewal.

I can't do anything on lionsgate as it's through a third party and I can't look on my account anymore. Has anyone else done this and did you put CC details in, or was it just a 3 month trial and no renewal?

Talked to sky, they say there is nothing on the account, but can I trust them.....

if it helps I got Sky Tv package minus movies with UHD sky sports and Basic netflix for £33~. No setup fee or fee for the puck.
Best I've just been offered was £54, no Netflix and only HD (£45 if I was happy with SD!). Was this on Stream rather than Q?

I've not accepted and now have 30 days to watch all my recordings, most are actually C4 or BBC so actually that's not a problem :D

I've been waiting for the call from Sky every since I cancelled. Their app and website states proudly that I've been with them for 19 years - surely they wouldn't just let me slip away - they would make a final attempt to keep me?
Seems not.
Their method of contact was a text each week for the first three weeks post cancellation and now daily with a count down until I'm no longer receiving the service, but inviting me to click a link - which takes me to the high prices they have already offered me. Today I received an email from Netflix as I'm no longer using "Sky Bill" my account is on-hold until I add some payment details (quite why this has happened the day before my Sky services ends I'm not sure).
So my feeling now is if they have cancelled that part, they are definitely just letting me cancel.

I'm not fussed. If they had offered me what I'd wanted for £18 - £20 I'd have taken it and then moaned in 12 months time when the price went up again. But still - you expect them to maybe at least try :)
I'll order a FreeSat box on Monday and then use my AppleTV box for everything else.

I'd been with them 14 odd years when I left, I had zero offers to stay with them as well. I have gone back after 6 months but to stream as there was a decent offer for 18 months that I didnt mind paying, but only by calling up.

Every 2 weeks I get mailing from Sky wanting me back, but they're still only dropping the price £1 every few months. I said I'd accept the price if they included HD, they said no. We'll keep on waiting.

Meanwhile I've just received a puck on a trial at a different address to watch the last 4 F1 races for £22 and binge watch anything I've missed on Netflix since password sharing came in, then return it in the trial period. Probably should have used NowTV for it but the puck offered more for the short term I wanted.

Same for me after 15 years when I cancelled last year. Just a text linking to the same rubbish offers. It was along the lines of £60 per month for Sky Q, Netflix and Sports. Not even broadband. Very poor indeed and was no better over the phone when i rang them a couple of days before the end date.

I guess when you've been with them so long they assume you'll cave in or aren't bothered.

mum cancelled when i moved out, eventually offered 75% off for a year but still did not take it. Strangely they are offering the 50% off again now lol.
Which number did you call? Was there much negotiation or did you have to work hard to get the numbers down?

Not sure if you've already been cut off but I've cancelled and been without Sky for 11/12 days now. I did get the usual text asking to call but held off and might give it a go soon, thought it might be better nearer to Black Friday.. let's see...

Meh....
I only have a pretty basic package but it suits.
Sky+ HD Box
Sky HD (£16)
Signature (£7)
£23 tot.

£23 a month was fair enough. End of contract price has jumped up to £43 which is just crazy. If they can't match the old price or get very close they will be chopped.
Is there a contact number that gets past the usual help-desk merry-go-round?

I've tried 03337 591433 but it's just the usual front desk, review your account and talk you into an upgrade sales tosh.

  1. Cancel
  2. Make sure you have marketing preferences set to allow
  3. Wait for the call, say no
  4. Try live chat
  5. Pretend you missed a call and call them back
  6. Agree to a price you are happy with or continue with the cancel
  7. Wait for calls, post or text. Eventually you’ll get a decent price might take a while, I left it several months before I got a deal I was happy with.

Can't stand Sky Stream, the interface is so bad. Went to watch F1 qualifying from earlier today, not available even though it was 6 hours ago, but it was more than happy to tell me all the results in a highlighted news feed underneath where the currently unavailable programme was supposed to be, or I could watch the previous race to "get back into it".

The box is going back once my 31 days is up.

Is available immediately as I watched in an hour after it aired.

You need to add it your list/series link. As Simmz said, it was available straight away.

How do you add something to your list after it has aired if you can't find it in any of the menus? If you go to sport then click the massive "Sky F1 Vegas" banner it takes you back to the previous race, then all the news feeds on sky and YouTube about the event you wanted to watch, with no option to watch it.

I had to go back to the entire season history then scroll through 53 episodes to get to the end to find it. After watching it, it's still not on the list of available shows on my menu for Vegas F1 or when searching for it.

But to have all the headlines underneath the available programmes to watch is just bad design.

Both virgin tivo from a decade ago and sky+ work better at catchup without revealing spoilers.

Just add any race to your playlist, then you just go into your playlist and the latest episode be it practice, quals or the race will be at the top. Otherwise just voice search Formula 1 on the remote.

I'll bet the stream picture is "behind" the old dish and box set up too, that's a deal breaker for me.
