*** Sky TV Cancellation & Negotiation Thread ***

I do find it weird how HD & 4K are charges as extras when really 4k should be standard now, I would expect most people have 4k tvs as you can obtain them relatively cheap now, it just seems like production companies are slow to catch up.
Suppose more bandwidth/more data, so most cost?

I think......it is going to be leave time for me (30 days left on contract). Out of all the TV services we use, we just aren't getting our moneys worth from Sky.
Right now, I've got 5 things in my planner and 4 of those could be watched via FreeView, only one actual "Sky Program" I'd need the subscription for.
I do like the Sky Q box and interface. To me it does have some monthly value, even is a box I mainly watch FreeView channels on, I would be willing to pay a monthly amount - but alas that monthly amount keeps on increasing.

All I really want is:
Sky TV Channels (HD & UHD)
Netflix Top Tier (Which is what you got with the "Ultimate TV Add-on" so long as you were already paying for UHD)

Netflix is £16 Stand-alone. I might just as well pay for that and then buy a "Now TV Monthly Entertainment Bundle" every so often, once all episodes from a series are available - it's effectively what I do for some of the streaming services at the moment, just dip-in every few months and watch everything before cancelling.

I've emailed my notice across - had email back and also been told they will contact me over the next few days (as they need to confirm I am who I say I am apparently). If they offer me what pathetically small services I want for around £26/month I'd probably take it. The Sky Q box is worth £10/month to me, but I doubt very much I'll see an offer like that.

So I suspect cancel and invest in a FreeSat box.

Called and cancelled my sky service at the weekend, they done their best to try and get me to stay but couldn't offer me broadband as I would be below their required speed & didn’t really make any concessions on price other than removing things from the package.

now I need to get in the loft and fit a tv aerial

I believe you can get Freeview boxes that stream the channels over the internet if that makes sense for you?

Given Sky wouldn't provide a broadband service due to low speeds unless he has an alt net option how well will that service work?
Not well then I suspect... Just thought I'd mention it. Don't shoot the messenger :)

Note: Didn't spot his comment about his internet performance.

Well that is it then - apparently I'd been with Sky for 19 years, no idea it had been that long. Now into my last 31 days (should have been 31 days from when I emailed them last Friday - just cannot be bothered to argue with the CS representative any more about that).
I went in and told them exactly what I wanted:
Sky TV (No Premium Channels)
HD & UHD
Netflix Premium
(However they name their packages, etc. Even said Sky Stream would be an option if that were cheaper).
Didn't want to be paying more than £26/month

Thought they might try - but they got to £43/month along with the now infamous £20 admin fee.
She even told me at this point that I'd been with them for 19 years - but that didn't seem to want to change the pricing at all.

I've got the Q setup - so from what I can see, adding one of the latest FreeSat boxes should be straight forward - unplug one, plug the other one in - it should be the Wideband LNB etc.
Just deciding if I want to just get a streamer or something with minimal recording capacity as well.

Can sign up with Sky stream here for cheaper.

You can and should do better than that.

I get

Sky TV Channels (HD & UHD)
Netflix Top tier
Second Sky Q box for bedroom + 2nd use subscription

All for £18 per month.

BUT I had to wait until about day 30 of my cancellation before I got a proper, English based person on the phone who asked why i was leaving and I explained it was just too much money and we couldnt afford it anymore and she basically went "right we can do the boxset channels for x per month, HD and Ultra I can discount to £1 per month, Netflix we are limited on what we can discount but we can do the top tier for £5 per month........" etc etc until she said that will be £18 in total, how does that sound? We were paying £38 per month previously.

Like you we dont use sky anything as much as we used to be we have awful reception on TV aerial and our internet can be iffy so we cant always rely on streaming so I am more than happy to £18 per month esp since it includes Netflix Ultra. Seems a fair price tbh.

Yer - that is exactly the package I'm looking for and to be honest, would be happy paying more. Netflix Ultra is £16 on its own, so I'd placed a value to me on Sky at £10 - so if they had offered me that for £26 I was going to take it.
I'm officially cancelled now. I won't do anything silly like buying a FreeSat box yet and I'll wait for the 30 days to pass, see if they want to try and win me back.

Good luck. Let us know how you get on.

Sky Q
HD + UHD
Sky Signature
Sports Complete Pack + HD / UHD
Multiroom

Went up to £94 when contract finished. Cancelled and was offered £62 for 18 months.

Seems around £10 - £15 more than what they're offering new customers at the moment but that's via sky stream rather than Sky Q so not a direct comparison.

I've had a text from them a few days after.
I had an unknown number call, could have been them, but didn't answer, just blocked it lol.
If I get a deal for what I have for £18pm I might stay, but that seems to good of a deal

That's a really good price and I've got my Sky sub on cancellation now so if they can offer me this price, I'll stay!

Currently paying about £41 per month for the same setup, due to the recent price increase and without the 2nd Sky Q box.

Our Sky Q box hasn't even been turned on in the last 2 or 3 months as the TV has all the apps built in for the TV shows we watch and we don't really watch "normal" TV! The last thing we watched on sky was the House of the Dragon series.

I thought I had sky till the end of the month, but they emailed to say it's over.

Ripped it all out, not heard anything from them, it's quite nice not having it and giving them money every month now!

I'm 5 days out from Sky ending - Saturday is the end date (not sure if I get Saturday included, or if Friday is the final day). So far I've had a text two weeks after I cancelled inviting me to make contact with them if I wanted to stay and that is it.
The Sky App still proudly tells me I'm a VIP customer of 18 years. Guess there is still time for a retentions call - we'll see.
As above, I'd take the same £18 deal if it was thrown in my direction, but with Netflix prices increasing further in the not too distant, I suspect I'll just be allowed to leave.
