*** Sky TV Cancellation & Negotiation Thread ***

Just noticed my Sky Q subscription for the basic TV and HD has jumped from £26 up to about £40. Quick Google and I can see Stream is available for £15 a month so brilliant, I'll call them up and swap over to that. Only to be told £15 is only for new customers, I get to pay £18 for the privilege..... I eventually agree to it only to be told I then need to pay £39.99 for the box as an existing customer which was the last straw so I've cancelled. They weren't able to match the online price for new customers which was mental.

I'll now wait to see if I get the usual phone call asking me to come back (31 day notice period) and if not I'll look to sign up as a new customer.

Absolute madness, they were getting £26 a month from me and that could have continued for all I cared. They also offer the product I want for £15 but can't sell it to me at that price.
I am getting my Sky Q subscription for the basic TV and HD for £12.50 per month for 18 months , HD is free

I've had Sky Stream for a few weeks now and I have to say, it's been faultless since it did a software update. I haven't had any of the reported issues. It is cabled to a decent FTTP connection, not sure how much poor wifi has with the reported issues. With that said, I don't use it that often, mainly for Football and the odd TV programme. Streamed Day of the Jackel and a few others with no problems.

Same connection as I have wired & FTTP, hopefully you only have a good experience. Given time I have my doubts. NOW TV with Apple TV has been a superb experience so far.

Sky have just announced that the package of Paramount+ that is bundle with Sky Cinema is being downgraded.

Think that could get me out of paying for Sky Cinema penalty free?

My contract is up in April. Working out what to do, Virgin is the only option for faster broadband but I’m not fussed with 70mb.

Currently paying;

Sky Stream + Sky Cinema - £29.00
70mb Broadband - £16.50

So it's time to do the renewal dance again as my current Q "deal" ends in a month.

Any tips for getting through to the right people? Am I better off calling or using the online chat these days?

I wouldn't do either. Just cancel Q completely and sign up with Now TV.
It's cheaper, by a long way. Picture quality is much better as is sound quality.

Now TV would be fine for Sky channels but what if I just want to watch terrestrial channels like BBC/ITV? I'd need to rely on Freeview for that but I don't have aerial connections where I have TVs so it becomes a real faff.

Sky Q may be expensive but it's also incredibly convenient.

Just use Iplayer for BBC and all the other channels have apps as well.

Like I said, it's a faff having to use apps for literally everything rather than just turning the TV on and having it all "just there" with the ability to record stuff locally.

The added convenience of Q is worth some additional expense to me, it's just a question of how much.

Apple TV can do that, not perfectly like sky but pretty dam close. Why Sky can’t lose the hardware and have an App for TVs or Apple TV is beyond me.

Just having a look at SkyQ (which was a struggle to find on the website) as my internet deal comes to an end shortly, so considered switching to Sky for TV\Broadband. I can't seem to find a package without Netflix as part of it though, which I don't really want to pay for, do they do a TV package without it?
