*** Sky TV Cancellation & Negotiation Thread ***

Well we were paying £26 per mth for Sky signature, UltraHD, Netflex Ultra and multi room with a sky mini box. They rang me up today to tell me my contract is up at the end of the month but good news instead of the £72 per mth it will be going up to, they can do it for £60. Told them to shove it.

Formally cancelled today. The best they could offer was now £67 per mth as my current subs should cost £80 per mth!!!! Cancelled with no fuss or pleading so unlike all the rpevious years when I have tried to cancel and its taken 2+ hours on the phone to actually cancel, I dont think they are bothered and not holding my breath for retentions to offer anything good.

big problem is we have no TV aerial (reception was awful where we live anyway) so what are my best choices for getting terrestrial TV please? I already have Apple and Prime subs. But my lass wont be able to live without normal TV channels adn some of her sky shows sadly

Amazon have Freevee which is live TV. So does Plex and so does Pluto TV

Pretty sure you'll get diddly. Sky seem determined to lose customers.

I'm just gonna get now and TNT for sports and ditch the satellite entirely.

Just been offered £85.00 for Signature, Sports, HD and Multiroom :(

New 18 month contract

Just asked him politely if he can take another look. My Dads been with Sky since it pretty much started broadcasting.

Edit, he has just come back with £80.50

The prices are a joke, he has to cancel and then he'll get better deals.

I have that and more for £37
Ok, I thought as much.

Just asked the agent if he can do it for £70.00 and he said nope.

I guess they have their limitations there end.

That's my next move ;)

Ok, chat ended and not got anywhere. Cancelation email I guess now.

Will update in a month if I get anywhere.

They did not offer us anything. All our kit have just been boxed up and will go to the Post Office this afternoon. Sky do not seem to care about losing customers. Strange business model.
Once you have cancelled you call up the win back team. They used to do outgoing calls but that seems to have stopped.

When my VM contract is up in December I doubt I'll be going back to Sky but who knows as VM retentions are a joke as well, and I really don't want Sky broadband.

Thats up to you, I called and said I missed a call from you and took it from there. Ultimately if you want to leave then cancel and move on with your life.

If you want to play the game, give them a call and a have price in mind and don’t budge from it.
Too late for us to call them, we’ve gone. Funny enough just been discussing with the Mrs what we will do with the extra £100+ pm. I’ve suggested sticking to one side for a couple of years and see what kind of Holiday that would buy.

I’d be gone for 9 months when I missed a call from them ..

As I have said earlier in this thread £37 a month seems fair value to me for footie and F1. Everyone is different though.

Had a shocker with Sky. About a week ago agreed to £101 to keep our package all the same (Sky signature + netflix + sports + 4k + multiroom + gigabit fibre) for the same package, from, £115 a month before. And somehow the guy ended up putting it through at £138 a month. Spoke to Sky again and they realise the mistake and they are trying to get the package in at original price, was supposed to call this weekend but we missed the call. Can see in My Sky app that it is now at £108 a month. Guess we will call them again and see where we land. Though I think the package is generally reasonable and still cheaper than what we were paying before. Gigabit had us paying a lot before (£53 a month) as we were standard broadband mid contract so Sky was our only choice but I can see it is now itemised at £42 a month.

Why would you agree to £101 in the first place?

It was internet that was costing us a fair whack since we we gone from 60mb fibre to gigabit mid contract and were only 2 months into our gigabit contract, so whatever happened that would've had to stay at £53 a month.

I have a bit of a get out clause since they lied when we re-contracted so they have said if we do not like their resolution we can cancel any of our services free of charge including the internet, though at £42 a month that it is currently itemised at I might keep the internet and bin off the TV.
