Slightly Confused and Puzzled, strange issues with PS5

Yet again, a new week and a new day. Monday has arrived and after a couple of days of not using the PS5, this morning I started it up, hoping for something to happen and it did...... So what happened?

  1. Started the PS5 up, the HDMI Splitter is in HDMI Port 2, on the side of the main Sony Bravia, and quelle surprise, the flickering happened.......... AAAAAAAAAAGGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!! Like in the video, I had and have already reset the TV, and of course The PS5 outputs in 1080, no problem. But the flickering like in the video happened......... So I left it flickering.
  2. Then after a while what could I see, like perfection the PS5 dashboard, no problem there, after a while of it flickering it stopped and I was able to use the PS5 and game for some 40 minutes, like I have said it is not the PS5.........
  3. Then after about 45 minutes - quelle surprise, the flickering started again................................. AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAGAAGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
Just what is happening and what is going off?!!!!

Did you say it was ok when you tested it on another older tv?

If yes it’s the tv at issue, if it’s under warranty, contact place you purchased it from, if not maybe new tv time?, annoying as that is.

Yes it works fine with another spare older Bravia. But two questions which are,

  1. How come that when I have tried the PS5, with it's HDMI Lead/HDMI Splitter into HDMI Port 1 and HDMI Port 2, it flickers................... AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHH
  2. How come that despite the VIRGIN MEDIA BOX, being connected to the TV, and that is in HDMI Port 1, by default, it does not flicker?
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAGAGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

Yes the HDMI 1 port works perfectly, it is connected to something else, but no issue there.
Again I put the HDMI Splitter into HDMI Port 1, and with the new HDMI Cable, which is a high speed one, The same issue happened.

Conflicting information.

Sounds like it’s independent of the port you used and also the HDMI cable doesn’t seem to make a difference.

What is plugged into HDMI 1 at the moment though is a Virgin Box, no issues.

Different device not having any issues so not the TV.

It’s your PS5. Graphics card likely dying.

Try a full reset first. If it doesn’t work it’s needs repairing/ replacing.

Because it’s not:

The TV/port on the TV
The splitter
The HDMI cable

It’s the PS5.

Have you tried plugging in the PS5 directly to the TV? Without the splitter?

Frankly at this point I'd just connect it to the older TV and play it there. More important things in life than spending weeks troubleshooting an issue.

IT IS NOT THE PS5!!!!!!!!!!

  1. THE PS5 WORKS FINE in an older TV, an older BRAVIA!
  2. Yesterday the PS5 was working fine for about an hour in the newer Bravia.
  3. And Yes, I have plugged the PS5 directly into another TV without the splitter and it works perfectly. Again in the newer bravia it worked perfectly, until a couple of days ago, so it is not the PS5!

Nope it is not the PS5 which is dying, the PS5 is working perfectly!!!!!!!!!!!!!! And if it died, and was dying then explain how on an older Bravia it works, when on the newer Bravia, it flickers?! The same HDMI ports are on both the newer and older Bravia!

@MrRockliffe - Some Points and Corrections to your post,

Yes the HDMI 1 port works perfectly, it is connected to something else, but no issue there.
Again I put the HDMI Splitter into HDMI Port 1, and with the new HDMI Cable, which is a high speed one, The same issue happened.

Conflicting information.

  1. HDMI Port 1 and HDMI Port 2, work perfectly with THE VIRGIN MEDIA BOX.
  2. HDMI Splitter with HDMI Cable, or without HDMI Splitter, when the PS5 is plugged into HDMI Port 2, which is the one that I use on the newer Bravia, have worked perfectly, it did with HDMI Port 1, however this past week or so, THE PS5 WHEN EVER I HAVE USED THE HDMI SPLITTER OR THE HDMI CABLE INTO EITHER HDMI PORT 1 OR 2, FLICKERS LIKE IT DOES IN THAT VIDEO.
  3. Yet if I use the older spare BRAVIA, No issues what so ever with the PS5, regardless of if it uses a HDMI Splitter or the HDMI Cable from the PS5 into it.

What is plugged into HDMI 1 at the moment though is a Virgin Box, no issues.

Different device not having any issues so not the TV.

  1. So why then if I use an older BRAVIA, do none of the issues happen?

It’s your PS5. Graphics card likely dying.

  1. PS5 Graphics are fine, so it is not the graphics card!

Try a full reset first. If it doesn’t work it’s needs repairing/ replacing.

If it works fine in snpther TV, it's got to be the TV that's the issue then? (Regardless of the virgin box working fine). I assume you used the same hdmi cables to test the ps5 on both screens?

If I was in you situation and If I had funds available I would just save myself the stress and go buy another TV or try replacing it if its under warranty still.

From everything thats been said it looks likely its the TV at fault, even if it worked fine before, things can go faulty.

One thing your could try to test if the tv or splitter is at fault - do you have an alternate 4k console you could try eg xbox, ps Pro, pc, laptop etc.

Also on the ps5 try turning off hdcp and hdr.
