Smart Fortwo DCT Mechanical Problem

At the end of the day I know the dealer doesn't really care. Its just a Smart, same **** different day to them. The parts department couldn't even be bothered to give me the prices of the part numbers I wanted. I had to contact a Smart dealer in the UK.

I care a lot as its my car, they couldn't give a monkeys. They have got parts on order but couldn't care less how long it takes for them to arrive, I've been waiting two months already with no ETA.

Its just a job to them, 9 to 5 then they go home and get paid at the end of the month. Its just the way it is unfortunately.

I think the only thing missing from this story is an antagonist and hand to hand combat in leather vests in a village which is burning.
 
That’s the trouble with dealing with main dealers you don’t get the same personal touch that you do with smaller garages that really care about their customers. Plus they have the monopoly on this island as the only Smart main dealer.

I'm not sure what you want them to do? They can't magic parts out if thin air if there's none in the supply chain.

thats it the magic content, just waiting for the mechanic/knight to ride in with the parts .....he was delayed slaying the dragon the parts fit and they all live happily ever after:)....or not

sorry missed this whether it is a main dealer or back street garage they order the parts and have no control over when they are delivered, if they are not in stock at the factory ,it not as if they can personally go and pick them up?

very very occasionally i have know dealers when they have a few vehicles in there compound remove parts to keep customers vehicles on the road, but its not life threatening or imminent failure to not have a undershield on your smart.
 
They could at least pretend to care.
Like I said earlier I'm in a similar but worse position as my passenger door is unusable until I get my bodywork sorted but that can't be done until they can get hold of a grille which like your parts is on backorder with no date.

I've also got a wife due to give birth any day so I'd have liked it sorted 3 months ago when it happened but I don't expect the garage to give me fake smily oh dear sympathy when I call them for updates.

It is what it is.

My parts are on back order from Germany apparently. Are there any known delays at the moment with getting parts from Germany?
 
although I'd have thought jersey had lots of Rich mercedes/smart clients , didn't brexit mess up imports ?

you mean surprise that mercedes/smart have such poor service centers that can't give an ETA on parts.

sounds, off, that they hadn't jury rigged previous tray in the interim, to provide protection; if parts are readily available elsewhere, damming, too.

Maybe you should buy a new Smart and give this one to your niece at a discount.
Funny you should say that my brother joked that I should sell my new Smart to my nephew for £1000 like I did with my old Smart to my niece as it was only fair. He’s now got a 4th generation Fiesta which my brother described as a **** box of a car.
