Smartwatch Thread (news/apps/updates)

One thing I realise I like from the Watch GT is the always on HRM. Do any Wear OS devices do this, or it rips the battery too much?

Not sure about the others, but my HW2's HRM is always on. Doesn't seem to affect the battery much either.

Although I'm not sure I want to recommend it, software updates compared to other watches is slow. Still don't have the Wear OS H update.

I currently have the W1 and I generally quite like it. I did wonder about trying the W2 but it's year old already isn't it? I wonder if there's any newer tech?

I got the Ticwatch Pro today, first impressions are good, I like. Will probably turn off Essential mode in time as I don't like the lag between screens.

Wife is set on the c2 for Xmas, I see the pro is down to 165 considering upgrading my sony smart watch 3 for this.

I'll post my thoughts as a SM3 replacement once I've had it a few days

Used the Huawei Watch 2 for a week while at work - thoughts so far:

- Really like the ambient watch screens, which I assume uses not a lot of battery power
- Battery life seems good, have 2 full days of usage with lots of notifications and still have 30% ish left
- Charging cradle is fine, but I prefer the micro USB port on my old Smartwatch 3 as its another cable to fiddle around with
- Bezel is surperflous, but I haven't found any issues with it yet9
- Not quite as snappy as I would have expected on some screens as I would have hoped for, particularly the PIN code when I put it back on after taking it off (PIN is a requirement for using contactless payment). Not too much of an issue though.
- Contactless payment with my watch - works well, very helpful but makes you look like a twit.

Won't be going back to my Smartwatch 3 at the moment. For £140 in BlackFriday sale it seems it was a bargain

I'm trying a steel mesh strap with magnetic fastener - i like it because it's much slimmer than a buckle on the wrist and it looks pretty good too. Of course it's more adjustable which is nice. I definitely prefer it to the silicone strap.

Thanks, just got it today and love how adjustable it is, magnet seems pretty strong as well.

As for the watch I'm loving it the more I use it, it's got me back into the running game.
You get so much information on health, never felt the need for such a watch but now I'm hooked.

how is the strap for charging? a couple of reviews say you need to take it off to charge it.

Not sure if it has been mentioned ref Argos deal, I Bought GW from Argos, they are doing it for 300 but throwing in a free duo wireless charger too (their RRP 89 but make sure you select the deal not the watch on it's own) AND Samsung giving 50 cash back. Seems a pretty decent deal for a High Streeter.

It syncs great to my note 8 I have to say and quite like tizen 4, not used android wear though.
For the Cashback you wait until you have received/collected the entire order (if you went for the watch and charger deal) then with the final email you get from argos or the receipt you pdf it and attach it to the processing page when logging a claim. They come back and tell you if they need anything more (correct address etc) then within 28 days you have the money in your bank account.

My concern is the lack of apps and integration into universal stuff I use everyday like google fit, pay etc

It will do Samsung pay and integrates into the Samsung fitness stuff, I don't use the others so cant comment really, it does what I want. I guess try it and see, you have 14 days to return it should it not be up to your requirements.

Can anyone offer me some advice? I'm debating getting a smartwatch for Christmas but I'm really torn as to whether it would be something I would use or whether its simply a desire for another bit of tech!

I would like the fitness functionality but that can be achieved with a fitbit or similar however I don't want a watch-like device on my wrist in addition to my actual watch.

I wear a watch and have done since I could tell the time, I like watches and currently have a Tag which is still a great time piece. In order to wear something in its place it would need to look like a watch. I have a desk job and wear a shirt day to day so I would want it to blend in with that. Don't like the look of the Apple watches regardless of functionality.

What do you guys use your smart watch for in day to day life? I have my phone next to me on my desk during office hours so it not like I go long periods without it and need the watch as an alternative.

I also have quite narrow wrists so wonder if perhaps it would look a little ridiculous as from what I see most are quite chunky?
