Smartwatch Thread (news/apps/updates)

Looking for wee bit of help. I have ordered a Galaxy watch 5 Pro via this deal, https://www.hotukdeals.com/deals/sa...at-samsung-epp-student-store-4046578#comments
Gone for the Bluetooth version so should get it ultimately for £164 rather than £429, so too good a deal to miss, or is it.
I know that the ECG and Blood pressure apps don't work properly on non Samsung phones, there are posts showing work arounds for this.
Have to be honest and say that i so wanted the pixel watch to be what i wanted but, it just doesn't do it for me. I like bigger chunkier watches and it just looks to small for me and the domed effect screen just looks too fragile to me.
Anyone with a Pixel 6 or Pixel 7 got a galaxy watch 5, what's your thoughts on how it works with your phone.

have checked and i think all the same width straps 20mm fit any size watch 4 or 5

Could you split the straps you have as dont need that many, plus give someone else a chance to get some

Let me know if there are any postage costs you need me to cover

I got the 5 pro through work portal, 15% off then £100 trade in and £100 cashback so works out at £164. Must admit that it feels great and works really well with my pixel 6. Only thing that seems not to work out of the box is the ecg and blood pressure monitoring, there is a workaround but not sure yet if i will bother with it.
I took it off full charge on Friday and it is now just short of 3 full days later and battery is at 27%.
I have always on display turned off and i have worn it to bed each night but will probably change to having always on display on and stop wearing it in bed as the sleep data doesn't really provide any value and I can get some sleep info from my pixel 6 now anyway.
I was able to install the Google camera app on the watch from play store so can use the watch as a view finder to take photos using the pixel 6. Google pay works perfectly on it as well
The new health connect standard seems to sync steps etc. Across fit and Samsung health.
I honestly was looking forward to the launch of the pixel watch but was totally underwhelmed by it, both looks, battery performance and it just looks way too fragile.
Anyway, totally impressed with the galaxy watch 5 pro working with my pixel 6 so if you can grab any good deal on it i would really recommend it. Cheers.

Trying to decide on upgrading my Xiaomi Mi Band 4/5 (can't remember :p ) to the 7, or 7 Pro version which is bigger and has GPS. I do go for runs, so GPS tracking would be nice. But going from £50 up to £80 odd for the Pro makes me wonder if I should start looking at proper smartwatches. I'm not entirely convinced I need apps and everything, but what would be the main contenders <£100? GPS definitely required at that price point, NFC would be nice but not essential.

I do like the small-ness of my current Mi Band though, and the ability to easily change straps.. and the battery life circa two weeks. All of which I'd lose by upgrading to something bigger I'd imagine :confused:
 
I just bought a Samsung Galaxy Watch 4 Classic off the bay for a good price. I am still using my Galaxy watch for now and expect I will pop this on MM later. I thought I'd go for the 4 rather than the 5 as there seemed to be somewhat of a downgrade with that model in terms of the rotating bezel and the look IMO. I also got this at a fraction of the cost. I understand the battery life wont be as good as the original but I have to charge mine daily usually anyway as I have the display always on.

Has anyone used this watch with Google Pay? Do you need to open the app or does it just work on presenting your watch, like the phone does?
 
Received the Watch 5 Pro today. Decided against the LTE version as Three only support apple watches. Damn... Ended up paying £164 with the red hybrid leather strap. It's a bit of a chonk, but not stupidly huge. Screen is lovely. Strap, the ability to change the strap so quickly is great. The hybrid leather is ok, leather top surface and silicone inner. Would prefer a full leather one to be honest. But, it's red and couldn't resist. ;)

Still setting it up to my liking. So many watch face options. Bixby is gone. Shame you can't remap the samsung pay button to google wallet.

Override hardware keys?

On Galaxy phones, the Bixby button can be overrided completely to allow for a number of customizations using 3rd party apps and ADB. Is there potential for this to work on GW4 for the Samsung Pay and Bixby shortcuts? I'd love to be able to use...

Is there a best watch to pair with a Google Pixel?

I don't like the look of the pixel watch aesthetically, wondering what the other best solutions would be? Never had a smart watch before but fancy giving one a go!

I got the Samsung galaxy 5 pro watch recently. Got 15% discount on Samsung site using my employers discount scheme. Also got £100 trade in for my old Huawei watch and £100 cashback so the watch was £429 and i ended up getting it for £164. It works perfectly with my pixel 6. Easy fix to get the ecg and blood pressure readings to work. Get about 3 days battery life with it. Great watch. I had hoped to like the pixel watch but it looks too wee to me and battery life also turned me off. Cheers.

I quite like the look of the Galaxy 4 Classic, not sure what to expect having not had a smart watch before ! Is it a bit counter productive to go for an older model now the galaxy 5s are out there?
