Smartwatch Thread (news/apps/updates)

Moto 360 is going onto the Motorola web site at 12:00 today, "limited stock"....

yea just got one said in stock with me on the 7th nov thought it would have been faster then that
Same here, colleague at work mentioned it so i ordered one as a replacement to the one going back to 02. Hopefully the 02 refund will come back before moto take my cash. :p
Its gonna be odd not having it for 1-2 weeks, I've become accustomed to having it.

My G Watch R arrived :D

I'm so glad I didn't give in and buy a Moto 360. The screen is amazing and those lovely AMOLED blacks. I'm just interested to see what battery life is like now given it seems to keep a minimal display on at all times.

With the bezel on the G Watch R does it spin to act like a timer? Doesn't really need to I guess but kinda curious...

I don't mind the bezel when using 'analogue' watch faces but as I'd never do that it would always look wrong to me, arguably that also negates the point in a circular watch at all but they do just seem to look better :p

Nope it doesn't spin. We've had Moto 360s available at my work for a few weeks, I kept almost buying one but the LCD backlighting and the dead spot killed it for me. Honestly the low power AMOLED watch faces are amazing on the G Watch R.

G watch R arrived, my thoughts

Ive not worn a watch for a while but I dont find it overly big, I do have large hands though

Love the way the screen and watch face looks and the Android wear interface works well but is a little buggy. The notifications are great and i can already feel that id miss it if I was to stop using the watch. This was with screen off so who knows if id had it on. Textra, aquamail and a few other 3rd party apps all work well

Mine was charged 100% out the box so i haven't charged it yet, I suppose the most disappointing thing is the drain from 86% to 69% overnight with no use, 17% when idle is a lot to sacrifice. Hopefully further updates may extend this a bit

I may use tasker to disable my phone bluetooth tonight so it disconnects and see if that helps any

Otherwise happy with my purchase, glad i went for this over the 360, the dead spot just ruined the entire look of that one for me. As an erly adpoter I expect bugs and poor battery life to an extent. I think the next gen will nail it thought

Not really looked into that yet. It comes with about a dozen different designs. There are some on the play store but I don't think Google have released the API yet so not sure how stable they would be

Chances are your battery life will get better over the next few days.
My Moto360 (before i sent it back. :p) was rubbish the first day or two, then it got significantly better, then again after the first update from Motorola.

Got my LG G Watch R today, surprised it was already at 100% battery, so instantly checked for updates and it's working brilliantly.

Going to play around for a bit, let's see how easy Android Wear is to use :p.

EDIT: Any recommendations for a watch face?

Loving the watch face on GWR that has an pedometer, altimeter and compass! Probably no use to me ever, but very cool.
