SNES Mini Classic

I've been thinking of using velcro to fit the SNES to the back of my TV. It's not wall mounted, however as much as I love the look of the SNES Mini it's not exactly fitting for modern times.

For what I have in mind I'd like the console upside down and stuck to the rear of the TV, so the control ports are facing the stand, and then the controllers coming out from underneath the TV. The only issue I have is that I don't want sticky velcro on the console (i.e. to attach it to the TV), but if there was a wrap around velcro solution I'd probably be inclinded to do that. I don't mind sticking velcro to the back of the TV.

I have a similar setup in my kitchen Nintendo Wii velcroed to the back of the TV. Been like that for a good 6 years. Cd drive facing down and sensor stuck on top.

How are people finding the games? As good as you remember? I can't decide whether to open mine, take it back or sell it on here to someone that can't get hold of one. It's still my fave Nintendo console and as a 2 player game Mario kart is hard to beat.
Is it legal to play the games by other means now I own them and keep it boxed up? Mods delete if that breaks any rules

I'm enjoying them a lot. There are a few that I never got chance to play as a kid (I had to buy my games myself) as I couldn't afford them.

That first time I booted it up and listened to Super Mario World's Athletic theme a tear came to my eye! The 2D games play fantastic whereas as you expect the 3D games not so much although I haven't played Starwing 2 yet. Personally I wouldn't sell it as it has already been hacked so within a few weeks you will have the entire SNES back catalogue.

Im really enjoying it, Im going for a Super Mario World / Super Metroid combo to start.

Once Metroid is done straight onto Earthbound as I have never played it due to never really enjoyed playing games via emulation on laptops etc

If you think that the N64/PS1 is the beginning of the major 3D era gaming, there are a lot of mechanics, controls, designs and bugs they are still to iron out over the years where as 2D gaming by SNES has been well established then so naturally they won't age very well.

I actually skipped the N64 altogether and got a PS1, in my head Grand Truism was photo realistic, but if I play it again it'll feel a bit naff too.

I agree with all of the above the 3d games havnt aged very well as you would expect but the 2d ones are still amazing. I am going for donkey Kong with some street fighter inbetween and then onto zelda

For me the snes is the beat console of all time. Brings back so many memories of my childhood that I get so nostalgic thinking about it. Opening it up and holding the controller was emotional lol. I own every console going and this is by far getting the most use of them all

Cheers I ended up being weak and looking at your spoiler last night, am I being daft or was there zero clues ever pointing to doing this?
This is old school Nintendo we're talking about! Sometimes you look back and ask yourself "how did I ever figure out how to do that".

Modern games guide you, most old ones just throw you in and say "off you go" :D

some games were made just to sell Nintendo power ;)

I'm pretty sure it's why we had gamesmaster :D

I've never really stopped playing snes games tbh. Still have my original somewhere in storage atm. The 3d is a little ropey in comparison with what was available on the PC, but... how much was a PC that could play Doom or Tie Fighter properly at that time? But the 2d games are still excellent fun. Then again, I've always looked at graphics as a secondary thing behind gameplay. Hell, I still play NES, Atari 5200 and Gameboy with some regularity.

I had a go on a few spectrum games at weekend. Could do with the wife visiting her parents with the little one for a week and having absolutely no work to do in the house for a really good retro blast

To true, the gameplay on these retro consoles by far outweighs the dated graphics. The NES is a classic and games like ExicteBike and TMNT will never get old.

I wonder if there will be a PS4 Classic in 15 years time, what games would be on it, cant see people wanting to plat 10 versions of call of duty!
