SNES Mini Classic

Well... I've just done some searching. Excluding Starfox 2 *as you can only get repurposed carts for this, at £80ish* and including a modded SNES with PAL/NTSC with HDMI.

Mixture of UK and US carts. Pretty much all cart only, also pretty sure they're all genuine.
Earthbound cart only at £275ish
Super Mario RPG - £150ish
Final Fantasy III - £120ish
Modded SNES - £110
and so on.

All in all, about £1100.

So...£70 seems a damn good deal.
Wonder how the mini will affect those prices now.
Might open mine tonight, getting itchy fingers

Wonder how the mini will affect those prices now.

Won't affect them at all. People have been able to emulate the games or get repro carts for ages. Being original hardware/software is what keeps them at those prices.

My guess, possibly go up. More people will become aware of some of these classic games who never really played them before. May make them want to get an original SNES and cart. But, I think that the SNES Classic is the best way to play them now.

I'd imagine prices will be stable or rise slightly, but as you say I think the best way to play them is on a console that is plug and play with todays TVs. I'm even thinking of selling up my SNES collection truth be told, if I can load all SNES games onto the Mini then I've no need for the old kit really. Wife won't let it be on display in the house anyway :p

Just a shame that light guns don't work on modern screens. Otherwise I'd slowly start to get rid of my systems.

I enjoy duck hunt far too much. :D

I just keep my systems on a shelf for display now. I run everything via emulation on my arcade cabinet.

I did buy the SNEs mini for proper couch gaming, as its not quite the same sat on a stool with an arcade stick :)

Hi folks, hope this is OK to post here.

I've made a step-by-step video guide on how to connect your SNES Classic Mini to gaming headsets or headphones when using a TV and Gaming Monitor. It will be straightforward for some, perhaps not for others. Please let me know if you find it useful.

I picked one up from eBay (£99.00) plus postage last week. The seller literally re-taped the Nintendo box and posted to me. :p

When considering some of the silly prices it's not such a bad price now. I would love to pick up a couple more as nostalgia gifts for a couple of mates; Who like me, spent dodging certain lessons to hone important life skills such as getting fastest lap on Super Mario Kart Ghost Valley 1... We felt like driving gods. :o

I have no idea what's going on with my Smyths Pre-order. I had the confirmation in June but unlike many I don't have any subsequent contact (it seems loads of people got cancellation emails on Friday). Customer Services are yet to reply....
I ordered in June too and last Monday got an email that they tried to take payment. If you don't update card details within 24 hours they auto cancel the order.

I was lucky that when I emailed them to say I didn't get paid till the 28th Sept that they got in touch with my store in Glasgow who agreed to keep one for me to pick up on the 30th Sept.

Loving this little machine so much and amazed myself at remembering a lot of the Zelda secrets(so much so that I have almost completed it) Same with Mario World. Secret levels and things. Same with hearing a lot of the music, took me back to being 1/12 again.

Also Ghouls and Ghosts and Contra were hard back then but WOW they are so so much tougher now! So glad of the restore points!

A few games like Earthbound and Mario RPG that I never played back then, so good to finally get hold of them.

Managed to get a mini today, much smaller than I thought it'd be :) Anyone fancy a mario kart time trial challenge, I always thought I was good at that back in the day...

I still need to unlock Rainbow Road but Mario Circuit 1 was a personal favourite. Mario Kart'ers post your time..... :D

Thing of beauty, not mine though.

Is it the same 21 games across all regions or any changes.

The Japanese SNES Classic games line-up exclusively includes:
  • Fire Emblem: Mystery of the Emblem
  • The Legend of Mystical Ninja
  • Panel de Pon
  • Super Soccer
  • Super Street Fighter 2: The New Challengers
Whereas these five games are exclusive to the European and North American editions:
  • Earthbound
  • Kirby's Dream Course
  • Street Fighter 2' Turbo: Hyper Fighting
  • Super Castlevania 4
  • Super Punch-Out!!

Have to say that I'm happier with the Euro/ N. America games but maybe that's a cultural thing.

I'd trade for the Japanese Streetfighter Turbo over The New Challengers we get (no idea why this one was a difference), and whilst Mystical Ninja might be nice I'm unsure what I'd eliminate from the EU/US list for it.
