So.... Twin Peaks is due to return.

I think the recent episodes 14&15 have been really good. But I suppose The series has been a disappointment as a whole although it's still better than 90% of the Vanilla US shows that swamp our screens.
Hopefully rain man Coop is dead now after sticking the fork in the plug socket and we see the real one back for an episode at least lol.
Anyone have any idea how it's been doing viewers wise in the US and UK? Has it been a success or failure? The network showed some real trust giving Lynch 18 episodes like they did.

On the whole I have enjoyed the series, yes we all wanted the original Cooper back but then I also wanted Han and Chewie back in the Falcon and that turned out garbage. I think if they had tried to go back to the Twin Peaks of old it would have not been able to recreate the magic, just look how terrible the X-files has been since it returned. I do think Lynch has created something quite unique and 'fresh', yes its not the same as the old Twin Peaks and arguably not as good but as a series it certainly has its merits when compared to some of the more formulaic shows of today. Getting more Gordon Cole has probably been the highlight and there has been some genuinely moving scenes. I think a lot will depend on what we get over the final 3 episodes... Has Lynch pulled the pin out of the grenade with old Cooper returning next week and then taking the lead in the 2-hour finale? We will see....

With any other director you'd question how they would handle the death of Bowie in bringing back a character like Phillip Jeffries.... With Lynch you wouldnt be surprised if even as far back as 25 years he'd always intended for Jeffries to end up as a smoking teapot contraption.

Yeh great episode. Coop is back but for only 2 episodes lol. What was Diane meant to have been all this time? I have really enjoyed the last few episodes it's a shame it's ending soon. Wonder if they will do another season :D

I think the Diane we have seen so far has been is some sort of 'construction' as she was treated the same way as Dougie was upon being brought in to the black lodge. Whether the original Diane can be recreated or in some way brought back, we will have to wait and see.

I think another season is unlikely based on the viewer ratings for S3 so I hope we dont get an ending with too many questions. Would be nice if we got a cameo from the original Sheriff Truman in the final 2 episodes but it is probably unlikely.

He didn't come out of retirement to film anything.

As far as I'm aware season 3 is a 'one and done' situation. Can't see Lynch doing anymore

Viewing figures still strong in the states?

Episode 17 - best of the season, finally its all coming together, if not actually making sense, at least giving us what we've been waiting for (including some semblance of answers)

Episode 18 - completely 'tonto' - what did I just watch ??

So by saving Laura in the past (or did he?) has Dale created an alternate reality (or dimension) and the final scene is of the same vein to the ending of Planet Of The Apes?

Who knows ? We're left with more loose threads than the first cardie my mum knitted for me.

Still, I enjoyed the season immensely for what it was. The fact it was made in the 1st place with 18 episodes and the same cast is a minor miracle !

The tone was very much a mix of Mulholland Drive / Lost Highway.....even Eraserhead more so than the original 'Peaks (not saying that's a bad thing)

I am totally the same. I watched ep 17 thinking yes this is great one of the best episodes really looking forward to the last episode this is gonna be great and then WTF  the last episode was trash. Anyone care to explain it? I can only think of your explanation myself that they are in some kind of alternate reality after saving her from her original fate. It was such a dull depressing ending to round off the whole legacy of Twin Peaks.
Although as you say it was great they brought it back with many original characters after so long but has kind of left me dissapointed

Thought this series was spectacular. Can't begin to explain how much I've enjoyed fresh material from Lynch and Frost.

For me, the whole series has been completely bulletproof to any criticism I might want to throw at it, as is most of Lynch's work. Everything he puts on screen feels deliberate. From the long, drawn out tracking shots to the tweedy and often humdrum dialogue and the masterful direction of the more surreal sequences, it's all so damn fascinating to me.

Lynch is an artist that seems completely indifferent to what we might think of his work. He just puts the canvas up there, vomits the intricate working of his mind all over it, then throws it into the exhibit.

Thought the ending was masterful. Have a couple theories but need to watch it once more before putting them to paper. Laura's scream will haunt me for months...

The scream was just about the only thing that gave me shivers through the whole series.

I kinda feel like I wasted 18 hours of my life to be honest...

Seems to be quite a few people who feel that way. Can't really argue with you either. His work has always been hugely divisive and I think it's all the better for it.

Pretty much sums up how I feel at the minute. Lol.

I didn't get it.

Same as everyone else, loved ep 17. Kinda wondered what 18 could bring to the table, and went in excited.

Ended up being served gruel. Shame.

If you get the chance watch the movie Fire Walk With Me & the final scenes to episode 18 will make a lot more sense.

Hope this helps.

Cheers All
