Solar panel production figures

Think cloud has descended onto the welsh mountains, don't think we getting much solar today

Yup 8kwh yesterday but I think that'll be it now, quite heavy overcast in East Anglia, so doubt I'll generating anything today. Doesn't look like it going to get any better for the rest of the week either.

Still already over December, 74kwh Vs a running 86kwh so far.

lucky for me, currently it looks like the only bad day for the rest of January. But we know how quick that can change lol

I mean we have got some blue sky up there, but some pretty thick cloud havering around

Got yesterdays elec breakdown from Octopus, so I used 17kwh between 12:30 and 3:30 that would normally be zero
I tumble dried a load, ran the dishwasher, heated my upstairs with a small fan heater rather than the GFCH
So its all stuff that would have happened just moved into that slot.
Oh also ran the house from the grid at that point rather than battery

Battery went into todays go period on about 38% so I used around 2kwh more than I needed to in effect.

Based on the savings session being 1.5 hours I should in effect get 8.5 x £4 for that part, the 10 day average for the 4:30-6 I haven't worked out, but that would be around 2kwh since two weeks ago I was using grid and giving batteries a boost in that window.

I could be on for about £40 of points assuming the formula we are basing this on has been correctly interpreted.
If not the experiment has cost me about £7 since I am on 40p units with go outside the cheap period.
Profit hopefully around £33 (40-7)

I guess we will likely see Mondays results tomorrow and yesterdays on Friday. Could slip into next week.

i made 53p on the first session on the 19th......i used £1.32 of electric from the grid that entire day, so for me its not a bad saving of around 40% of the days grid use, just for 1hrs sufferance. Add to that i exported 8kwh of solar too @15p....

Leccy used from grid £1.32
Saving session 53p
Solar exported £1.20

= +41p for me on the day

I also used 2.4kwhs of solar produced that day, saving me a further 79p from the grid

So all in all £1.20 up on the day

19th was 1p for me.
No idea how I managed that since i am always on battery/solar for that window

I am pretty convinced it was one of the test sessions they need to run.
IIRC its 3 within first month, plus 1 per month until March. So around 6 or 7 depending when a supplier signs up and gets validated.

If the supplier is functioning fine then it makes sense to move the test sessions into a far less peak window to save the grid some serious money.

Gulp...we might be in trouble, my savingsessions app is showing 8 points for 24/01/23 session. It was updated 20 mins ago. I used approx 4 units in the -4 to -1 period before the session.

You sure, the points given on the 24th relate to the 19th session

Email just received, you're right. Phew. So, 6 days to find out re: yesterday.

Hi Daniel,

Thanks for being part of our Saving Session on 19th January. Here’s a quick look at the difference your efforts made:
  • You saved 0kWh, which earned you 8 OctoPoints – worth £0.01.

you used 17kwh in the space of 3 hours?

thats 5.6kwh / per hour!!!!

I am guessing plus background use but sounds insane, even with those things mentioned above running.

Unfortunately the session on the 19th I was out and we had a good solar day so I got a whopping 0 and red thumbs down which was disappointing. The last 2 sessions I was able to ramp up usage before the session so let's see what they say.

Indeed, sorry missed on battery charging which can pull 5.5kwh on its own

Dw is about 1.6kwh for full load
Tumble will be a lot, probably 3-4
Fan heater I think is 1.5kw could be 2

My usage was actually higher though, solar was generating around 1.5-2kwh average over that period on top of my grid usage :D

1.47kwh today :(

Brings month to 95kwh and variance to model (117.5) to 22.5 which is 3.75 a day and thats almost exactly the model solar per day.

Forecast summary is now 4/6 sun/cloud days and 2 cloud days so could be very close I think.

Fingers crossed. I think I am fairly comfortable with the model now, with maybe a tweak down in Dec due to the significant blockage from my South.
