Solar panels and battery - any real world reccomendations?

Givenergy app seems to have had an update to show current cost per hour when drawing from the grid, although csnt see where its taking the p/kwh from as my smart meter isn't enabled for that and can't find any setting in the dashboard or app.

Which screen is that on? The main dashboard screen?

Don't know where it's pulling the tarriff from though as my smart meter doesn't know how much I'm paying but it seems to be tallied up to my 19ish p per kwh.

No, never have, really confused by it. As I say my smart meter has no actual connectivity apart from to the little home hub thing, but the pricing doesn't work on that either. Hugo etc doesn't work either. Says my smart meter isn't compatible at this time.

Had a quote during the week for 12 solar panels and battery system came it at 14k. First quote so, not sure if that’s a good one yet until I receive one from the other two companies I asked.

Hmm, I've had the same update - I've loaded my Octopus Go API into the browser version, so suspect it's pulling from that.

I 'think' it shows hourly equivalent based on your usage times current rate.

Try clicking the symbol and then click 'to dashboard' and it should show where it's getting tariff info from

Anyone got any recommendations on who/where to get a quote from? Had one place want to give me a two hour appointment  sounds like a hard sales pitch which I just can’t be bothered with. All I want for now is the specs of the equipment and the cost so I can start comparing them…

@dasyad If you want recommendations it would be a good idea to say whereabouts you are.

Installing solar is not a simple task, they will need to see what roof space you have available, where the inverter and batteries can installed, available space in your consumer unit (fuse box), how to get cables from the inverter/batteries to it, and of course run through things with you, two hours sounds a reasonable time to do this. On the other hand someone could just give you a list of equipment, bump the price up more than usual to cover unknowns, and give you a quote, a two hour appointment sounds a much better option to me, I'd far prefer someone to be quoting thats taken the time to investigate options, and talk it through.

Go on MCS website and search installers in your area, then look at their websites and research their testimonials and reviews. Get at least 4 quotes I have had 5 visits with quotes and another 3 who just did a remote quote using google earth/easy-pv each wanting to sell me a different system lol. Try Easy-PV its fun and helps you learn what will fit on your roof and their costs. some crazy prices out there at the moment its double glazing salesmen reborn lol

Dont know where you are but round here quotes are taking like 8 weeks and 5-6 month lead time for installation. People don't reply to calls or want money for quotes. The dream is getting someone come out for 2 hours to quote properly
