SOME RYZEN 7 1700 OVERCLOCKING!

Yes, I did. Thanks for correction. (Busy trying to get product updates on my QA website on the second data centre lol... it ain't playing ball and am quickly typing whilst I wait for it).

Honestly I don't want to recommend a particular one, because it has been shown time and time again that manufacturers keep changing the chips memory and don't let the consumer know. I'm sure some of the guys can here can recommend a particular model. Also, look here: https://www.reddit.com/r/Amd/commen...bdie_confusion_eg_on/?st=j0zuwh6g&sh=2ac3529a

P.s. try to get a quad kit instead of two duals, that way you can ensure you are getting the same chips and it is a matched set. (plus it might be slightly cheaper for the quad kit)

Ok thank you :)

Oh, and sorry to say, OcUK don't sell the G.skill. Take a look at what 8Pack is offering in his 1700 overclocked bundle and get 32GB of that possibly. (team group I think).

Yeah i did see them though i can only use a cooler that has one 120m fan as i only have room for that on the back of my case have a Corsair Hydro H50-1

Thanks for sharing.
Using it as a reference (but not following it to the letter) I'm finalizing my 3.9Ghz P-states overclocking on my 1700X

You're welcome! I'm getting 4ghz with standard multiplier overclocking at the moment, I plan to fine tune with p-state overclocking and see if I can push to 4.1ghz with my 1800X.

Anybody having any joy with this memory, currently in use in my main rig? Corsair CMK16GX4M2B3200C16 16 GB (2 x 8 GB) Vengeance LPX DDR4

Looking to get a CrossHair V1 Hero so I was hoping to move two stick over. The Asus website suggests its OK.

If it's any help I have the 2x16GB version of that kit running fine at 2933MHz with a 1700X at 3.9GHz in a Aorus Gaming 5.

I seem to have hit a wall at 3.9GHz @ 1.375V. At that overclock it's rock solid in everything.

However I can't get 4GHz stable at all, tried voltage all the way up to 1.45V and prime hard resets the PC every time.

Any ideas how to eek that last 100MHz out for a nice round 4GHz?

Which chip?

The voltage bump often gets significant once you reach 4Ghz+. You may need 1.475v or just over. That voltage level should be okay, just stay below 1.55v.

1700, if it's going to take that kind of voltage I'll probably just leave it at 3.9GHz. Not worth it for an extra 100MHz. I was hoping for some secret setting or other voltage that might need a tweak to tip it over the bar.

I've got similar...1.36V for 3.9 but even if I setup 3975 at 1.45V it crashes after few minutes in realbench.

I also need big jumps in voltage for 4.0. settled on 3.95 at 1.4v with 2933 ram. Gives me a cinebench multi 1743 of and single core results of 160
Cpuz bench gets single of 2311 and multi 20713.
Temps are good and peak to high 50s with relatively low fan speeds to keep noise down
Using windows performance power plan also

Yeah, think I'll work on lowering the Vcore required for 3.9GHz (was a quick and dirty OC which happened to pass stability testing), and then see about getting my memory speed up instead. Might give 3.95GHz a crack though, see if I can squeeze any extra drops out of it before I call it a day.

Then I'll have a look at this P-State milarky once I have my finalised OC.

I take mine back, would boot from cold with 2933 ram, Ive since took a different approach and dropped to 3.7ghz with 2666 ram speeds but dropped my vcore down to 1.19 and things are great, running very cool and quiet. Plus since im running a rx480 i dont think I'll notice the drop to 3.7. But I'll see how it goes and have a stable 3.9 profile saved if needed.

What are you cooling it with ? I have a single 560 monsta rad with fans @500rpm, and a few hours of x264 @ 1.4125v @ CPULLC5 & SOCLLC3 resulted in max temps of 78c on the 1700 @ 4000 on an ASUS X370Pro, what are you measuring the temps with ? I used HWINFO64

Do you really need such high Llc?

I can happily run 3.95 with Llc2 which I could probably drop down to llc1.

And even with higher clocks and higher voltage I never saw above mid 60c temperatures.

Did you realy say 1.55v on the Core there Matt? Also, a couple of weeks back you where going to dig around in AMD for a 'You must not breach' voltage. Did you find that out?

I just checked for a new version of HWINFO64, I seemed to have an old version of it wich showed random numbers, now the temps are the same as ryzen master.
And LLC in itself doesnt really change the temps all it does it keep things steady under load, so if I manuall input 1.4125v for 4ghz then LLC5 should keep it at that even under max load.
