SOME RYZEN 7 1700 OVERCLOCKING!

Order an AM3 backplate off of amazon for a couple of quid, I did the same, lasted me 4 weeks whilst I waited for my NZXT mount. Still can't believe Asus didn't include an AM3 backplate, clowns.

Memory wise, on the Extreme Tweaker page of BIOS, there's a line for Memory Frequency, just set to 2966mhz or whatever it is, no reason why it shouldn't change for you - provided you have updated your BIOS to at least 1002.

Did they email you or let you know via the ticket they were sending you mount?

Also I tried 2966 broke it, kept getting error Od, had to remove my GPU remove the mobo battery to reset the bios, disconnect my 2nd HDD just to get it to post again. Not sure why but it will not let me increase my memory speeds.

I used the Asus auto overclocker and set the CPU to 4ghz though, sits around 70 while playing BF1 on stock cooler no idea if that's good or bad.

Just checked the corsair tracking info. Left Amsterdam this evening, should be with me on Tuesday. I'll let you know if it fits my Kraken if you're interested in getting one also? £4 for the bracket, plus shipping.

Yeh let me know how it goes, £10 in total including shipping not so bad.

Still annoyed NZXT are taking so long, should have just got a Corsair AIO, only got Kraken 62 because I like the CPU block.

Yeah the NZXT stuff looks so nice, but they seems to be the furthest behind out of all the companies with these brackets even though Corsair have theirs coming from the same manufacturer.

Yes, ticket was updated a few days prior to the USPS tracking site showing progress.

I posted this in the Owners thread, but, maybe here might be a better place to discuss the poor overclocking performance of my 1700.

Ok, I am running an MSI x370 pro carbon with a Ryzen 1700. Currently running @3.8Ghz. With Voltage set at 1.35. My ram is running at 2933Mhz.

I am only getting around 1480 in Cinebench. My CPU score in 3D mark TimeSpy demo hovers around the 7000 mark. I thought I would be pushing 1600 in Cinebench and definitely getting 8000 in 3D mark.

My temps go up to 60 degrees when running benchmarks. They idle around 35/36 degrees.

Just wondering if you have had any improvement with your oc. I have the same board and chip with 16gb corsair lpx, running at 3.85ghz @1.4v right now, can't seem to get the memory to even stay stable on desktop at 2400mhz with 1.35v and 16-18-18-36 despite it being 3200mhz rated...not sure if I'm missing something

I have the Ryzen 1600 running at 3.9 Ghz on 1.35v. That's on a Asus X370 prime board with Corsair lpx 3200 which ran at 2933 with timings of 16-16-16-36.

Fairly straightforward my experience has been I guess. Cinebench score of 1309.

Temps Idle approx 26c according to Ryzen Master which must be wrong. That's with a H100i and load temps in the high 50's low 60's.

Only wish I knew how to use the p-states for overclocking as I would like the cores to clock down when idling.

Unfortunately on our boards there's nothing to know about p states - they aren't implemented at all currently.

It probably bugs me more than not being able to run my ram over 2400.

Yeah, I didn't reinstall windows when I moved over to the Ryzen. A quick reinstalled sorted my low scores in Cinebench.

You should download the new bios, just released today. It improves the memory. I am not overclocking at the moment, but, my memory is running at 3200Mhz without issues using A-XMP. On the 1.2 Bios my memory would only run at 2933Mhz. Any higher than that and the computer wouldn't boot.

I plan to return to overclocking when AMD release the new microcode in May. To be honest though, the performance is fine at stock. Everything runs great and it's so smooth.

Yeah, already tried it, way better options in BIOS such as being able to type in values instead of scrolling, though the stupid "scrolling to bottom to find auto value" is still there, but they added some RAM presets for rapid testing.

I still can't get even 2400mhz to stay stable even with 17-19-19-38 and 1.36v, and this is on 16-18-18-36 3200mhz rated ram... sad too as the 2400mhz, while unstable, did allow me to boot and play games for a bit, and in some games did move my average fps up 5 or so. I just moved the ram back down to 2133mhz for the moment. I can't even post with RAM above 2666mhz

The CPU itself is at 3.875ghz @ 1.42v and seems to be running ok, even under stress testing it doesn't break 52 degrees as I have it on a custom loop. Real shame about my RAM at the moment since it seems other people with the same DIMMS have been using in the Crosshair at 3200mhz with little problems, hopefully MSI can improve it

I would reset everything to default and try to run the ram using a-xmp profile 2. And just see can you run at that speeds.

And I have read in other places that the ram doesn't like been run at 1.36volts. People had more success running at 1.35v.

Just a quick question, did you reset everything to Stock before you did the BIOS upgrade?

I think I've found the sweet spot for my 1700. 3.9 was stable with 1.42 for a couple of weeks and I threw everything at that but I started having problems. I've backed it down to 3.8 with 1.37v.
The temps have gone from 72 degrees to 52 on full load with corsair h100i. I have lost about 30 points on firestrike and only a few in cinebench.

The extra heat and voltage along with instability doesn't warrant the extra performance IMO. I could very well go up to 1.45 but for 100mhz isn't worth the heat and noise.
Now I just need AMD to release an extra memory strap so I can actually use my 3600 ram :)

I'm doing 3.827GHz with 1.35v.
Also a H100i v2 with restrained fans giving me a peak load temp of 51 degrees.
No need to squeeze a squidge more speed, the low volts are lovely.

Reassuring to see you needing 1.37v for 3.8ghz. I've been running my 1600 at 3.7 on the stock cooler at 1.28v while I wait for a bracket for my Kraken before I go any higher, I tried 3.8ghz at 1.3v at it's fine until I try and run a game and then I just black screen and mobo lights start flashing.
