SOME RYZEN 7 1700 OVERCLOCKING!

Did you realy say 1.55v on the Core there Matt? Also, a couple of weeks back you where going to dig around in AMD for a 'You must not breach' voltage. Did you find that out?

Yes voltage up to 1.55v can be used if the cooling is sufficient (think high end water cooling) but remember overclocking voids warranty. ;)

After the new bios update from Gigabyte, ive managed to get the 1700 clocked at 3.8ghz without a problem, I'm running the stock cooler so 3.9-4.0ghz can wait for now. The most noticeable difference is it now allows the memory to be clocked, again ive only loaded the standard clocked profile which sits at 2666mhz. Ive noticed a big difference in Timespy with a CPU score originally at 6715 with avg fps of 22.56 to 8024 with an avg fps of 26.96. Cinebench is coming in at 1673 unfortunately I don't have any previous results to compare it to. I must say these new updates are showing how good Ryzen is turning out to be.

Ryzen certainly loves memory speed. Someone on overclock.net has just posted memory speeds of 3845mhz! I think a certain someone should be getting the packaging ready for this x99 :)

Just been working on my 1700. Got it to 4.0Ghz on 1.412v load - 1.433 max. @AMDMatt this look okay or about right?

After reading a post by Elmor, he seemed to recommend enabling LLC to help the inducers. LLC3 has sorted my chip to 4.0Ghz.

Edit: should have said this is via PState.

Looks good mate. I've started using LLC1 too.

I found that CPU Soc voltage can need bumping once you get to around 4Ghz+, so when stress testing you need to factor in that you may need to increase more than just Vcore.

So my new Ryzen 7 arrived ordered a nice Kraken X62 from OCUK. Thinking I would be able to mount it right away thanks to the CH6 being back compatable with AM3 coolers but failed to notice or realise that i didn't have a AM3 back plate XD. So after a 9 hour wait for it to arrive only to realise this I went with the AMD stock cooler.

HOLY CRAP I must say i'm impressed, (mind you I upgraded from a Core2Quad so even a nice specially selected potato PC would have been better) so much quieter than my previous CPU cooler, and even with a small overclock.

I'm new to OC and I didn't want to mess around too much before my AIO arrived so I went with a CH6 pre-made and set all cores to 3.780ghz.

Took a screenshot of me running BF1 and KF2 never seen the temps go above 50, not sure if this is good or not for this stock cooler.

Does anyone know how to change the RAM speeds though?

I tried to do it in the BIOS but it only lets me increase speeds, I want to increase voltage too as i want to mach it to the sticks im using but the voltage and timings are greyed ot.

I'm using a GSkill RGB CL15 3000mhz kit but it's setting itself at 2133 and not letting me up it.

Order an AM3 backplate off of amazon for a couple of quid, I did the same, lasted me 4 weeks whilst I waited for my NZXT mount. Still can't believe Asus didn't include an AM3 backplate, clowns.

Memory wise, on the Extreme Tweaker page of BIOS, there's a line for Memory Frequency, just set to 2966mhz or whatever it is, no reason why it shouldn't change for you - provided you have updated your BIOS to at least 1002.

Sounds a bit ridiculous really, surely overvolting past a point should void a warranty not overclocking the product you advertise as being able to overclock with your own master utility for overclocking it. There isn't any obvious mention of warranty without some digging in to the t's & c's... If you make an official overclocking utility its a fair assumption that it operates within AMD limits and therefore should be supported as such.

Not sure how you would every prove it unless something was utterly fried but would wager not everyone in this thread is of the opinion they have voided the warranty...

Increasing voltage falls under the same category, it's pushing the component past its factory rated speed.

Before you can install the Ryzen Master Tool you have to agree to the disclaimer, and the same before you can use it. You don't really have to do any digging.

Still surprised if you created a tool that would operate outside 'safe' parameters, I don't think you have... Debatable that you could even tell a processor had been overclocked unless volted to absolute toast also. Intel actually sell an upgrade to the warranty for about $30 but I would doubt anyone buys it.

I agree, I think they likelihood of them finding out if you have overclocked is slim to none.
