Something went wrong, ordered a Mustang, yet ended up in a British hotrod, I blame OcUK!

Would you not want to swap out the M3 with a Caterham, thought you were looking into them?

Caterham will be a 3rd car is my thinking at the moment. :)

Took the M3 to get it setup for track days at Spires Tunings only for him to reject working on the car, as he found following issues:
- As suspected rear braking issue, turns out pad material left the backing plate on rear inside brake pad, amazed how no garage spotted this on numerous times of suspecting an issue with brakes, kind of annoying as its probably ruined the alcon rear disc, a new pair is £1500 if it can't be recovered.
- New set of pads of course, £200 though so nothing extreme.
- Then he removed rear springs, one was over 1/2" shorter than other and he said both had lost their spring rate, as such he recommended replacing them all including helper springs, so ordered a full set from KW, 2x front springs, 2x front helps, 2x rear springs, was expecting that to be about £800 but it was a very fair £385.
- Another set of wheels, something like team dynamics just for track day use, with a set of semi-R's fitted, don't look great but don't need to they will just be thrown on for dry track days and keep the nice wheels and MPSS for wet and road use.

So need to sort the above, pads, springs ordered, be here next week, then back to Spires in May to get the car properly setup and then some track days. Still need to do head gasket and vanos as preventitive maintenance though the guy at Spires actually advised against it and said if the cars compression is good (it is) and it makes good power (it does) to simply leave it well alone. He said yes head gasket is a known issue but as its a track car which gets regular oil changes is probably why it does not need one as regular oil changes help maintain gasket life.

As such probably get the above issues sorted, track it on some evening sessions and if all goes well, then great.
Quite funny as the brakes were mega even with the issue and the car handled superb even with springs well past their usage date, haha, so quite looking forward to getting it back.

Got some test drives in Caterhams booked in May, plus some more Caterham events booked up, I then plan to rent one this Summer and if I really enjoy it shall then plan to purchase one for next Summer and just throw it in my garage, I know what spec I want, now I just need to sort out which engine I want and its gotta be in orange or silly green ideally. :D

I just watched on the TV, about the Jaguar Factory that build the two versions of the F-Type and wow, the precision it all goes through, one lovely motor

Ah think I just caught it on Quest +1 was it "Supercar Superbuild" ?
Caught the last 25 minutes which moved to the F-Type and then the SVR so probably good timing, thanks for the headsup.

I think Jigger should have watched it, would have proven how very wrong he is, every part of the F-Type is built in the UK including the Ford supplied motor all built here by British workers. He would also have been educated how all the designers, engineers and SVO department itself is also here in the UK along with all their testing facilities, he could learnt a thing or two. :D

But great bit of TV that. :)

Not sure if that is a good or a bad thing :p

To my knowledge its a deal / contract Jaguar have with Ford to build the engines in the UK Ford plant, they are all Jaguar staff just working out of Ford UK's plant to build the V8 and V6 engines. The contract ends December 2020, so this will come to an end before then as Jaguar start to build more engines in their own plants (China) or form a new contract with a new supplier, latest rumour is BMW.

Either way the SC V8 and SC V6 are a great engine, linear throttle response, instant throttle response and sound awesome, so those engines coming to an end is only a good thing as we know all new motors will be turbo charged in the forms of the i4 2.0 and the i6 3.0 which are Jaguar units built in the Chinese plant. The V8 future is unknown, will they form a new contract with Ford, BMW or Mercedes or will they just focus on their own i4, i6 and hybrid/electric power plants.

@Gibbo was just watching this evolve video and at 2:19 saw something I recognised :p

I like 5:30 better. :D

He might have 800HP but not much can live with the Jaaaaag to about 120 and he does not catch me until 180mph at which point I let off and brake early, was not confident on old brakes, when I go next time will run it all way to brake boards like her does and register an actual Vmax :)
