*** Sony Xperia Z5 ***

i also prefer the warmer tone, though the ios on 1080p on the z5 is really really good.. i cant really say much other than i personally think the s6 has better camera software. My z5 is going back its laggy doing easy simple tasks like switching home pages, maybe ill test it out next year when sony do some updates but for now im going back to my s6.

Mine arrived today... Came with headphones. I know some people reporting theirs did'nt .

On overnight charge. I know you probably dont need to do this with modern batteries but old habits and that :)

You got Stamina mode on? My Z5c isn't laggy, maybe a bit initially while cache building but not now. Took a couple of days of usage to settle down. Haven't had any noticable home screen redraws on the z5 that plagued my s6

I've noticed stamina introduced a touch of lag when turning screen on but nowt major.

In auto?

Most people just like to take a shot in auto with minimal fuss.

Yes, in auto. Change the setting and it sticks along with brightness. You can adjust the colour temperature from its neutral position.

I know it's unfortunate but they can't create defaults that will suit every potential purchasers preference.

Define headphones. Mine came with headphones that looked like they had Quantum Leaped from the 90's.

Mine came with no headphones, just the phone, screen protector, usb cable and a plug.

Bit annoyed that there was no headphones :( just glad i still have my Z2 headphones with noise cancelling!

Headphones as in the type that play music into your ears... Mine says MH410C on the sticker if that helps... Did I buy the phone for great headphones? No, I bought it for the phone.... Anyone that wants to complain about how crappy the supplied headphones are with a phone is being a bit silly IMHO.

hahaha, i was more shocked. My headphones broke a few days before i got the phone. Thinking since the phone touts such high end audio, it would at least come with some semi decent headphones to keep me going till i got others. But it came with the ones you got. As the joke i said before, Quantum Leaped from the 90's. Just didn't think those type of headphones were still being made.

Generally good performance from the camera, great stabilisation and audio recoring is on par with the S6 (and much better than the G4 + iP6s). Macro focusing is off though and and struggles in low light.

So I have to disagree with DxO's ranking.
It wasn't mentioned in the video but was highlighted elsewhere that there was a one second delay in image processing speed when trying to take multiple shots, despite having a very fast auto focus with the Z5. Can anybody confirm this? Does this phone also support raw?

No raw and the camera app currently does have a delay when taking multiple shots. it's the old z3 app really, the actual z5 camera app hasn't been released yet, it's due in a few weeks.

Be interesting to see how it performs.

I've been at a kids party today and took loads of video, the Steady Shot is God tier to the point it's almost freaky. Some of the video looks like it was filmed on a tripod. Really good stuff.

You know why that is though don't you :p

It's all about the algorithm combined with the magnets in the lens that adjust it and big sensor with extra wide angle lens. Because the sensor crops in when EIS is enabled (on any camera with EIS this is true), the wide angle lens compensates for the FOV loss and makes the EIS cropped image just as wide, if not wider, than a standard phone cam without EIS or one with OIS.

Hence the reason it's dubbed Hybrid image stabilisation, as it's the best of both worlds.

This is only possible on the Z5 series as they have an additional orientation sensor to aid EIS and do more number crunching for an even better stabilisation compared to previous models.
